  • Saints' Trevor Penning: Back at practice

    Penning, who spent the offseason rehabbing from a Lisfranc injury in his right foot that he suffered in January, is participating in training camp practices, Katherine Terrell of ESPN.com reports. Penning was day-to-day Thursday with a minor foot injury that was unrelated to the Lisfranc injury that he suffered in the Saints' 2022 regular-season finale against the Panthers. Now that he's healthy, Penning will compete against James Hurst for the starting left tackle spot to protect new quarterback Derek Carr.

  • Saints' Trevor Penning: Dealing with foot injury

    Head coach Dennis Allen said Thursday that Penning (foot) is day-to-day with a "minor" foot injury unrelated to the one he suffered last year, Luke Johnson of The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports. Penning underwent surgery in January for a Lisfranc injury in his right foot that he suffered in the Saints' 2022 regular-season finale against the Panthers. He also missed the first 11 games of 2022 while recovering from surgery for a turf toe injury he suffered in the preseason. Once healthy, the 2022 first-round pick out of Northern Iowa is expected to compete against James Hurst for the starting left tackle spot.

    The Saints expect Penning (foot) to be ready for training camp, Katherine Terrell of ESPN reports. Penning is expected to be ready for training camp after suffering a Lisfranc injury in January. Even though he might not be ready for the the start of camp this news is still promising for the 23-year-old as he can use the opportunity to further develop ahead of his second season.
