  • La'Mical Perine: Back on practice squad

Perine reverted to the Chiefs' practice squad Monday, per the NFL's transaction log. Perine was elevated to Kansas City's active roster ahead of Sunday's victory over the Jaguars. His purpose was to serve as insurance in the team's backfield. However, his services were never needed, and he ultimately did not see the field.

  • Chiefs' La'Mical Perine: Elevated to active roster

Perine was elevated to the Chiefs' active roster Saturday. With Clyde Edwards-Helaire (illness) questionable for Sunday's matchup against the Jaguars, Perine has been promoted for additional depth in the backfield. He suited up for four games with the Jets in 2022 and recorded eight rushes for 31 yards.

  • La'Mical Perine: Back with KC's practice squad

Perine is signing with Kansas City's practice squad Wednesday, Matt Derrick of Chiefs Digest reports. Kansas City cut Perine on Tuesday while keeping Isiah Pacheco, Jerick McKinnon and Clyde Edwards-Helaire on the roster at running back. Perine made 14 NFL appearances for the Jets between 2020 and 2021 but hasn't played in a regular-season game since.

  • La'Mical Perine: Does not make team

The Chiefs waived Perine on Tuesday. Perine's only real route to the Chiefs' final 53-man roster was if they opted to go with four running backs, as Isiah Pacheco, Jerick McKinnon and Clyde Edwards-Helaire were already pretty much locked in ahead of him. That scenerio ultimately did not come to fruition, so now Perine will either need to get a practice squad offer or else he will be looking for a new landing spot.

  • Chiefs' La'Mical Perine: Returning to Kansas City

The Chiefs signed Perine to a reserve/future contract Wednesday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports. Perine didn't actually suit up for a game with Kansas City after signing to the practice squad in late January, but he will get a chance to compete for a role this offseason. The running back was elevated for a game with Miami but didn't handle any snaps, and he also spent time on the Eagles' practice squad early in the 2022 campaign.

  • La'Mical Perine: Signs with Chiefs' practice squad

Kansas City signed Perine to its practice squad Saturday. Perine did not play in any game during the 2022 regular season, but the Chiefs saw fit to bring him onto their practice squad ahead of Sunday's AFC Championship Game. As long as Isiah Pacheco, Jerick McKinnon and Ronald Jones remain healthy though, Perine is a long shot to be elevated.

  • La'Mical Perine: Back to practice squad Monday

Perine reverted to the Dolphins' practice squad Monday, per the NFL's transaction log. Perine was elevated ahead of Sunday's wild-card loss to Buffalo to help provide depth with primary running back Raheem Mostert ruled out due to a broken thumb. While the 24-year-old Perine was active, he never wound up seeing the field behind Jeff Wilson and Salvon Ahmed, as these two were the only Dolphins running backs to log any carries. As a result, Perine failed to appear in a game over the course of a season for the first time in his three-year career.

  • Dolphins' La'Mical Perine: Joins active roster

The Dolphins elevated Perine from the practice squad to the active roster Saturday ahead of Sunday's wild-card contest at Buffalo. The third-year pro has resided on Miami's practice squad since mid-October, but with Raheem Mostert out Sunday due to a broken thumb, the team was in need of reinforcements in the backfield. Jeff Wilson is slated to be the primary runner in place of Mostert, but Perine and Salvon Ahmed will be available for touches if needed. Through 14 games with the Jets between 2020 and 2021, Perine averaged 3.7 YPC on his 72 rushes, hauled in 11 of 15 targets for 63 yards and scored two touchdowns on the ground.

  • La'Mical Perine: Joins practice squad

Perine signed with the Dolphins' practice squad Tuesday, Daniel Oyefusi of the Miami Herald reports. Perine spent training camp with the Jets, but he was unable to make the team's 53-man roster. After a short stint in the Eagles' organization, he'll now get a chance with the Dolphins.

  • La'Mical Perine: Released from practice squad

The Eagles released Perine from their practice squad Wednesday. Perine landed a spot on the Eagles' practice squad after being waived by the Jets, who drafted the running back in the fourth round of the 2020 Draft. As a rookie, Perine totaled 75 touches for 295 yards and two scores, but he saw limited action in 2021 and now finds himself as a free agent heading into 2022.

  • La'Mical Perine: Joins Philly's practice squad

The Eagles signed Perine to their practice squad Wednesday, Field Yates of ESPN reports. Perine totaled 75 touches for 295 yards and two scores as a rookie in 2020 but was waived by the Jets ahead of Tuesday's 53-man roster deadline. The Eagles have solid running backs with quality NFL experience on the active roster, but the group is only three deep. So, Perine will likely operate as an emergency depth option in case any of the aforementioned backs go down with an injury.

  • La'Mical Perine: Let go by Jets

The Jets waived Perine on Monday, Brian Costello of the New York Post reports. The addition of Breece Hall this offseason pushed all the Jets' returning running backs one spot down the depth chart, so Perine was always a long shot to make the team's initial 53-man roster. The 2020 fourth-round pick totaled 75 touches for 295 yards and two scores as a rookie but appeared in just four games last year.

  • Jets' La'Mical Perine: Falls flat in preseason finale

Perine rushed once for minus-1 yard in Sunday's 31-27 preseason win over the Giants. Perine didn't get many opportunities, but he didn't exactly make the most of his final chance to show the coaching staff he belongs on the 53-man roster. The Jets' 2020 fourth-round pick is a long shot to make the team in 2022.

  • Jets' La'Mical Perine: Finds end zone against Falcons

Perine rushed twice for 10 yards and a touchdown in Monday's 24-16 preseason win over Atlanta. Perine didn't see the field much in this one but made the most of his limited opportunities, bouncing outside for a seven-yard touchdown run early in the fourth quarter. He outplayed undrafted rookie Zonovan Knight (five carries for nine yards), but Perine's likely still looking up at Breece Hall, Michael Carter, Tevin Coleman and Ty Johnson on the running back depth chart heading into Sunday's preseason finale against the Giants.

  • Jets' La'Mical Perine: Solid showing in preseason opener

Perine rushed 10 times for 51 yards in Friday's 24-21 preseason win over Philadelphia. Perine is on the roster bubble, but the 2020 fourth-round pick out of Florida put forth a solid effort in the preseason opener to help his case, topping his totals in rushing attempts (eight) and yards (31) from the entire 2021 regular season. Breece Hall and Michael Carter are locks to make the Jets' roster, leaving Perine, Tevin Coleman, Ty Johnson (hamstring) and undrafted rookie Zonovan Knight to battle it out for another 1-to-2 roster spots.

  • Jets' La'Mical Perine: Just eight touches all season

Perine rushed eight times for 31 yards and wasn't targeted in 2021. Perine spent most of the season as a healthy scratch. Barring massive offseason improvement, the 2020 fourth-round pick could find himself on the chopping block in camp with the Jets next season.

  • Jets' La'Mical Perine: Inactive Sunday

Perine is inactive for Sunday's game against the Dolphins. As is Ty Johnson, which sets the stage for Michael Carter, Tevin Coleman and Austin Walter to handle the Jets' Week 15 backfield duties.

  • Jets' La'Mical Perine: Pressed into action by injuries

Perine rushed seven times for 28 yards and wasn't targeted in the passing game in Sunday's 30-9 loss to the Saints. Austin Walter (illness) joined Michael Carter (ankle) and Tevin Coleman (concussion) on the sidelines before he could play a snap, leaving Perine to work as the power complement to Ty Johnson's finesse in the backfield. Perine was more effective than Johnson (six carries for 17 yards) on the ground, but he wasn't involved as a pass-catcher, and the Jets never got close enough to give Perine any carries by the goal line. Even if none of the injured running backs return, New York's struggles offensively and Perine's limited skill set will make him tough to trust in Week 15 against the Dolphins.

  • Jets' La'Mical Perine: Won't play Sunday

Perine (coach's decision) will not play Sunday against the Texans, Randy Lange of the Jets' official site reports. Perine will watch from the sidelines again and hasn't been active since Week 9. The second-year pro has work to do to leap the trio of Austin Walter, Ty Johnson and Tevin Coleman on the Jets' depth chart.

  • Jets' La'Mical Perine: Healthy scratch again

Perine (coach's decision) is inactive for Sunday's game against the Dolphins, Rich Cimini of ESPN.com reports. Perine will be in street clothes for the second straight week following Tevin Coleman's recent return from a hamstring injury. The Jets are likely to continue keeping only three running backs active on game days, and Perine will be fourth in the pecking order so long as Michael Carter, Ty Johnson and Coleman are all healthy.
