  • J.J. Arcega-Whiteside: Let go by Atlanta

The Falcons released Arcega-Whiteside on Tuesday. Arcega-Whiteside signed with the Falcons in May after spending most of the 2022 season on the Seahawks' practice squad. He hauled in six passes for 86 yards in three preseason games. He'll look for opportunities elsewhere once he clears waivers.

  • Falcons' J.J. Arcega-Whiteside: Signs with Atlanta

Arcega-Whiteside and the Falcons agreed on a contract Monday, Tori McElhaney of the team's official site reports. Arcega-Whiteside spent the majority of the 2022 campaign on Seattle's practice squad, but he failed to appear in a game before being let go in November. The wide receiver last appeared in a contest in 2021 with Philadelphia, catching two passes for 36 yards over 16 games that season. He will now attempt to crack Atlanta's practice squad and potentially their active roster to open 2023.

  • J.J. Arcega-Whiteside: Done with Seattle's practice squad

The Seahawks cut Arcega-Whiteside from their practice squad Tuesday, John Boyle of the team's official site reports. Just a couple months after inking a practice squad deal with Seattle, Arcega-Whiteside will now have to look for another opportunity elsewhere. In a corresponding move, the Seahawks added Laquon Treadwell to their practice squad.

  • J.J. Arcega-Whiteside: Signs practice squad deal

The Seahawks signed Arcega-Whiteside to their practice squad Wednesday, Bob Condotta of The Seattle Times reports. Arcega-Whiteside was traded to Seattle by Philadelphia during training camp, but he didn't secure a spot on the Seahawks' initial 53-man roster. The 2019 second-round pick has 16 receptions for 290 yards and one score across three seasons in the NFL.

  • J.J. Arcega-Whiteside: Misses final roster

Arcega-Whiteside was waived by the Seahawks on Tuesday, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports. Arcega-Whiteside arrived in Seattle during training camp via a trade from Philadelphia. He subsequently reverted back to wide receiver after an experiment switching to tight end for the Eagles last season. The 2019 second-round pick was ultimately unable to make enough of an impression to land spot on the final roster.

  • Seahawks' J.J. Arcega-Whiteside: Two targets in preseason loss

Arcega-Whiteside didn't catch either of his two targets in Thursday's 27-11 preseason loss to the Bears. Arcega-Whiteside arrived in Seattle after a trade with the Eagles that sent defensive back Ugo Amadi -- whom the Seahawks were planning to cut anyway -- the other way. The 2019 second-round pick had only five days to pick up the playbook before Thursday's preseason clash, so his limited usage was to be expected. While Arcega-Whiteside attempted to convert to tight end in Philadelphia, he'll switch back to wide receiver with his new team. The preseason finale against the Cowboys will be key for his chances of making the team.

  • Seahawks' J.J. Arcega-Whiteside: Will play wideout with Seattle

Arcega-Whiteside, who worked as a tight end while with Philadelphia earlier this offseason, said Tuesday that he will move back to wide receiver after being acquired by Seattle on Monday, Curtis Crabtree of Sports Radio 950 KJR Seattle reports. The Eagles attempted to convert Arcega-Whiteside into a tight end after he caught just 16 passes for 210 yards and one touchdown over his first three seasons with the team. The 2019 second-round pick -- who stands 6-foot-2, 237 pounds -- also played more snaps on special teams (229) than on offense (161) last year, indicating just how far he had slid down the Eagles' wide receiver depth chart. Arcega-Whiteside will now have to prove himself against Seattle's fellow pass catchers Penny Hart, Aaron Fuller and Dareke Young if he wants to secure a roster spot this preseason and eventually turn around this abysmal start to his career.

  • Seahawks' J.J. Arcega-Whiteside: Traded to Seattle for backup DB

The Eagles traded Arcega-Whiteside to Seattle on Monday for defensive back Ugo Amadi, Brady Henderson of ESPN.com reports. It's not a great sign for Arcega-Whiteside's NFL career that he was traded for a player who reportedly was about to get cut. The teams worked out a deal instead, and the 2019 second-round pick now can take his attempted WR-to-TE transition to Seattle.

  • Eagles' J.J. Arcega-Whiteside: Shifting to tight end

Arcega-Whiteside is moving from wide receiver to tight end this offseason, Jeff McLane of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports. The 2019 second-round pick has struggled to find his footing as a pro, tallying only 16 receptions for 290 yards combined across three seasons. Given the lack of production, Arcega-Whiteside -- who is presumably past the finger injury he dealt with late last season -- was likely to be on the roster bubble heading into the 2022 campaign. While that could remain the case, Arcega-Whiteside may find a spot on the team as a depth option at tight end, particularly with Tyree Jackson attempting to return from a torn ACL.

  • Eagles' J.J. Arcega-Whiteside: Catches two passes in 2021

Arecega-Whiteside (finger) finished the 2021 campaign with two catches on five targets for 36 yards across 16 appearances. The 2019 second-round pick played double-digit offensive snaps just seven times, including a season-high 40 during the regular-season finale. He failed to haul in any of his three targets during the Week 18 loss to the Cowboys, and he apparently picked up a finger injury during the contest as well, which landed him on injured reserve. His lack of production through his first three NFL seasons may put him on the roster bubble heading into 2022.

  • Eagles' J.J. Arcega-Whiteside: Lands on injured reserve

Arcega Whiteside was placed on injured reserve Monday and is scheduled to undergo finger surgery, Tim McManus of ESPN.com reports. While Philadelphia was resting several key players for the Week 18 loss to the Cowboys, Arcega-Whiteside played a season-high 40 offensive snaps and failed to catch any of his three targets. After sitting out the requisite three games, Arcega-Whiteside will be eligible to play should the Eagles advance to the Super Bowl, but the recovery timeline for his surgery makes it unlikely he'll be available to play by then. The 25-year-old finished the 2021 campaign with two receptions for 36 yards on five targets over 16 games. His lack of production through his first three NFL seasons will likely put him on the roster bubble heading into 2022.

  • Eagles' J.J. Arcega-Whiteside: Plays 14 snaps in loss

Arcega-Whiteside played 14 snaps in Sunday's 13-7 loss to the Giants, catching his lone target for 13 yards. The 2019 second-round pick was a distant fourth on the receiver depth chart in the game, although his snap count on offense has trended into double-digits in two straight weeks. With Jalen Reagor dropping key passes in the defeat and his star seemingly fading fast, Arcega-Whiteside may start to see more chances sooner rather than later.

Arcega-Whiteside (ankle) doesn't have an injury designation heading into Sunday's contest against the Broncos. The 2019 second-round wideout has played less than 10 offensive snaps in every game since Week 2 and hasn't caught a single pass all season.

  • Eagles' J.J. Arcega-Whiteside: Misses practice Thursday

Arcega-Whiteside (ankle) did not practice Thursday, Dave Zangaro of NBC Sports Philadelphia reports. Arcega-Whiteside missed practice Wednesday as well after being injured in the Eagles' Week 8 win over the Lions. A missed Thursday session is usually a troublesome indicator with respect to potential gameday availability, and although Arcega-Whiteside has been a non-factor on offense, he would potentially enjoy a larger role in Week 9 if Jalen Reagor (ankle) were to sit out against the Chargers.

  • Eagles' J.J. Arcega-Whiteside: Misses practice Wednesday

Arcega-Whiteside (ankle) missed the Eagles' practice Wednesday. Arcega-Whiteside suffered an ankle injury in the Eagles' Week 8 win over the Lions. The receiver was unable to practice Wednesday, which isn't a good sign for Philadelphia's receiving core as Jalen Reagor is also dealing with an ankle injury. Expect Quez Watkins and Greg Ward to see large roles Sunday against the Chargers if Arcega-Whiteside is unable to suit up for Week 9 action.

  • Eagles' J.J. Arcega-Whiteside: Questionable to return

Arcega-Whiteside (ankle) is questionable to return Sunday against Detroit. The potential loss of Arcega-Whiteside will test the team's depth at the position, as Jalen Reagor (ankle) has been downgraded to out. Quez Watkins and Greg Ward are expected to see an uptick in snaps as a result.

  • Eagles' J.J. Arcega-Whiteside: Questionable against Lions

Arcega-Whiteside (back) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Lions, Martin Frank of the Delaware News Journal reports. Arcega-Whiteside suffered the back injury while making a special-teams tackle in Week 7 against the Raiders. Even if he plays, Philadelphia's disappointing 2019 second-round pick is unlikely to have much of a role on offense, as he's yet to have a pass thrown his way this season and has just 14 catches in his 31-game career.

  • Eagles' J.J. Arcega-Whiteside: Ready to go for Week 3

Arcega-Whiteside (ankle) wasn't listed on the Eagles' injury report ahead of Monday's matchup with the Cowboys. Arcega-Whiteside was able to suit up against the 49ers after injuring his ankle in Week 1. The 24-year-old ended up only playing seven offensive snaps and has yet to record a target this season. The 2019 second-round pick will likely have limited involvement in the Eagles' passing attack once again in Week 3.
