  • Jets' Austin Seibert: Staying with Jets

The Jets signed Seibert to a reserve/future contract Monday. Seibert started the season on the Jets' practice squad. He was called up for Week 2 against the Cowboys with Greg Zuerlein ruled out with a groin injury, and Seibert made his only field-goal attempt from 34 yards and coverted his lone PAT attempt. He was briefly on the Saints' practice squad before returning to New York to end the year. Seibert will have the opportunity to compete for the Jets' kicking duties in 2024.

  • Jets' Austin Seibert: Won't kick Sunday

Seibert (coach's decision) is inactive for Sunday's game against New England. Seibert was elevated to the Jets' active roster from their practice squad Saturday, possibly as a result of Greg Zuerlein recently managing a quad injury. However, the latter wasn't listed on New York's injury report and is kicking Sunday, so the somewhat curious move to elevate Seibert will result in him being inactive for the team's season finale. Seibert will end 2023 having kicked in one game, nailing his only field-goal attempt and lone extra-point try against Dallas in Week 2.

  • Austin Seibert: Latches on with New York

The Jets signed Seibert to their practice squad Wednesday. Seibert kicked for the Jets back in September against Dallas, drilling his lone field goal and only extra point. He'll be a candidate to kick Thursday night against Cleveland with Greg Zuerlein dealing with a quad injury.

  • Austin Seibert: Cut by New Orleans

The Saints cut Seibert from their practice squad Thursday, Nick Underhill of NewOrleans.Football reports. Seibert was brought in by New Orleans just over a week ago, as Blake Grupe was dealing with an undisclosed issue ahead of the team's Week 13 contest. Grupe was able to suit up in Week 13's affair, and he appears to be past whatever issue he had been tending to, so it's not surprising that the Saints have decided to move on from Seibert.

  • Austin Seibert: Cut from practice squad

Seibert was let go from the Jets' practice squad Saturday. Seibert joined the Jets' practice squad Sept 16. He filled in for Greg Zuerlein (groin) in Week 2 against the Cowboys, and Seibert made both of his kicks (a PAT try and a 34-yard field goal attempt). He'll look for another opportunity once he clears waivers.

  • Austin Seibert: Returns to practice squad

Seibert reverted to the Jets' practice squad Monday. Seibert connected on his only two kicks during Sundays' loss to the Cowboys - a 34-yard field goal and an extra point - while playing in place of Greg Zuerlein (groin). With Zuerlein's status for Week 3 against the Patriots still up in the air, Seibert could be the subject of another promotion ahead of that game.

  • Jets' Austin Seibert: Picked up by Jets

Seibert signed with the Jets' practice squad and was elevated to the active roster Saturday, and he's expected to kick in place of Greg Zuerlein (groin) in Sunday's game against the Cowboys, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports. Seibert kicked in three games for the Lions last season. He went 3-for-5 on field-goal attempts and 12-for-12 on extra points. The veteran has had also had stints with the Browns and Bengals. He has mainly been a fill-in option for teams since starting 16 games in Cleveland during his rookie campaign in 2019. Seibert will revert back to the practice squad Monday.

  • Austin Seibert: Waived by Detroit

The Lions waived Seibert (groin) on Friday. Seibert won a preseason competition against Riley Patterson but then missed two field goals over the first three games and sat out Week 4 with a groin injury. Patterson now is with the Jaguars, while Michael Badgley is set to fill in for Seibert and attached to a Detroit offense that's been surprisingly productive, despite dealing with numerous injuries.

  • Lions' Austin Seibert: Maintains limited practice activity

Seibert (groin) was a limited participant in Thursday's practice. Seibert appears to have shown some improvement in his recovery from the right groin injury that kept him sidelined for last week's 48-45 loss to the Seahawks, but he may need to turn in a full practice Friday for the Lions to feel comfortable proceeding with him as their kicker Sunday at New England. Before he sustained the groin injury, Seibert's job appeared to be in question after he missed a pair of field-goal tries in a narrow Week 3 loss to the Vikings, but special teams coordinator Dave Fipp expressed confidence in the 25-year-old's ability to improve and strengthen his hold on the role once healthy, per Tony Garcia of the Detroit Free Press. If Seibert needs more time to move past the groin injury, the Lions will promote Michael Badgley from the practice squad to handle kicking duties against the Patriots.

  • Lions' Austin Seibert: Logs limited practice

Seibert (groin) was listed as a limited participant on the Lions' injury report Wednesday. Seibert didn't practice last week due to the injury and was ruled out for Sunday's loss to the Seahawks. The 25-year-old's status appears to have improved, however, given his ability to work back into Detroit's first practice of Week 5. Seibert converted three of five field-goal tries and all 12 of his PATs over the first three weeks, and he should see plenty of scoring opportunities in the Lions' prolific offense this season.

  • Lions' Austin Seibert: Won't play this week

Seibert (groin) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against Seattle, Tim Twentyman of the Lions' official site reports. Seibert missed practice all week and now will be out for the Week 4 contest. The Lions likely will call up Dominik Eberle from the practice squad, and while the matchup with Seattle is favorable, the equation also involves an inexperienced kicker whose team has multiple key injuries on offense (D'Andre Swift and Amon-Ra St. Brown both are out this week).

  • Lions' Austin Seibert: Misses two from long range

Seibert converted one of three field-goal attempts and three of three PATs during Sunday's 28-24 loss to Minnesota. Seibert had plenty of chances to put together a strong fantasy outing, but he missed a 48-yard try early on before pushing wide a 56-yard field-goal attempt late in the fourth quarter. With that said, the Lions offense remained productive for a third straight week, and it bodes well for Seibert's future prospects that Detroit is consistently getting into scoring position. Up next is a Week 4 home matchup against Seattle within the indoor confines of Ford Field.

  • Lions' Austin Seibert: Converts five PATs

Seibert converted five of five PATs during Sunday's 38-35 loss to the Eagles. The good news for Seibert is that the Lions offense looks like it could be improved upon last year. The bad news is that the good news ultimately resulted in zero field-goal attempts Sunday since Detroit was able to find the end zone whenever it got into scoring position. However, its offensive scoring efficiency figures to vary most weeks, so better days should be ahead for Seibert from a production standpoint. Up next is a Week 2 home matchup against Washington.

  • Lions' Austin Seibert: Limited Wednesday

Seibert (groin) was a limited participant during the Lions' practice Wednesday. Seibert appears to have picked up a right groin issue after winning out in Detroit's starting kicker competition over Riley Patterson this preseason. The 25-year-old converted 15 of his 17 total kicking attempts before missing the Lions' final nine games with a hip injury last season. Seibert's status will be worth monitoring ahead of the team's Week 1 matchup against Philadelphia on Sunday.

  • Lions' Austin Seibert: Has edge in kicking competition

Lions head coach Dan Campbell said Monday that Seibert is a "tick" ahead of Riley Patterson in the kicking battle, Justin Rogers of The Detroit News reports. A hip injury placed Seibert on injured reserve midway through the 2021 campaign, and the Oklahoma product had to watch as Patterson set the Lions' franchise rookie record for kicking accuracy down the stretch. However, now that he's healthy, it appears the place-kicking gig is Seibert's to lose during training camp. Last season, the fourth-year kicker went 10-for-12 on field-goal attempts and a perfect 5-for-5 on extra-point tries, with his only misses coming from beyond 40 yards.

  • Lions' Austin Seibert: Working with starters

Seibert has been working with the first-team offense during OTAs, Tim Twentyman of the Lions' official site reports. A hip injury planted Seibert on injured reserve midway through the 2021 season, and the 2019 fifth-round draft pick proceeded to watch as Riley Patterson set the Lions franchise rookie record for kicking accuracy down the stretch. However, it not only appears that Seibert is healthy again, but that he has also been working ahead of Patterson during early offseason practices. However, even though Aldrick Rosas is now out of the picture, a two-man competition for the kicking job in Detroit could last all summer.

  • Lions' Austin Seibert: Done for '21 season

Lions head coach Dan Campbell said Friday that Seibert (hip) won't return from injured reserve this season, Benjamin Raven of MLive.com reports. Seibert is first eligible to return from IR this weekend against the Vikings after missing the requisite three games with a right hip injury, but since he's not even in condition to resume practicing at this stage, the Lions don't have confidence he'll be able to make it back before Week 18. While Seibert has been sidelined, the Lions have used three kickers in as many games. With Ryan Santoso and Aldrick Rosas having since been moved off the 53-man roster, the job looks like it belongs to Riley Patterson for the time being. The undrafted rookie out of Memphis connected on both of his extra-point attempts last week in his NFL debut in the Lions' 16-14 loss to the Bears.

  • Lions' Austin Seibert: Moved to IR

Seibert (hip) was placed on IR on Saturday. The Lions promoted Ryan Santoso from the practice squad in a corresponding move. Santoso will fill in for Seibert against the Steelers on Sunday, and he'll likely continue to do so for the remainder of Seibert's absence, which will last a minimum of three weeks.

  • Lions' Austin Seibert: Scores three points in blowout

Seibert converted his lone field-goal attempt during Sunday's 34-11 loss to Cincinnati. Seibert only got one chance at a field goal in this one, as the Lions were thoroughly blown out by the Bengals. While the offense managed to score a TD late, Detroit went for two instead of giving Seibert an extra-point try. There may be 31 better kicker options in fantasy come Week 7 when the Lions go on the road to take on the Rams.

  • Lions' Austin Seibert: Drills three field goals

Seibert made all three of his field-goal attempts during Sunday's 19-17 loss to Minnesota. Seibert easily had his most productive game as a Lion, nailing two field goals from within 40 yards and another from 52. Detroit kickers previously averaged one field-goal attempt through the first four games of the season. Seibert will remain a risky start in Week 6 against the Bengals.
