  • Dolphins' Mike Glennon: Moves up to active roster

Glennon was elevated to the Dolphins' active roster Saturday. At least for the moment, it appears as if rookie Skylar Thompson will get the start Sunday against the Jets, with Glennon possibly set to act as a backup with Teddy Bridgewater's (finger/knee) status still up in the air. Expect more clarification from the Dolphins prior to the 1:00 p.m. ET kickoff.

  • Mike Glennon: Joins Dolphins' practice squad

Miami is signing Glennon to the practice squad Wednesday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports. Glennon is inking with the Dolphins while Tua Tagovailoa remains in the concussion protocol and Teddy Bridgewater (finger) deals with a dislocated pinkie finger on his right hand. Coach Mike McDaniel suggested Tagovailoa will remain sidelined Week 18 versus the Jets, meaning if Bridgewater isn't available it would fall to rookie seventh-round pick Skylar Thompson to helm Miami's offense. In that scenario, Glennon could be tasked with handling backup duties.

  • Giants' Mike Glennon: Four completions, four turnovers

Glennon completed four of 11 passes for 24 yards and two interceptions in Sunday's 29-3 loss to Chicago. He added 13 yards on one rushing attempt and fumbled four times, losing two. Glennon struggled mightily for the banged-up Giants, and the team primarily kept the ball on the ground in the blowout loss. Even if Glennon is given the starting nod in Week 18 against Washington, his 4:10 TD:INT this season suggests it's best to avoid him in fantasy.

  • Giants' Mike Glennon: Poised for Week 17 start

The Giants are planning to have Glennon start Sunday's game against the Bears, Jordan Raanan of ESPN.com reports. New York re-evaluated its quarterback situation for the second week in a row after Jake Fromm stepped in for his first career start last Sunday in place of the struggling Glennon, who went 0-3 while completing only 51 percent of his throws for 4.6 yards per attempt and 2:5 TD:INT during his three-game run after taking over for the injured Daniel Jones (neck). Though Fromm is nearly a decade younger than Glennon and offers more developmental upside, the 23-year-old did little to demonstrate he was an NFL-caliber quarterback in last week's loss to the Eagles, completing only six of 17 attempts for 25 yards and an interception before he was benched midway through the third quarter. Glennon took over thereafter and wasn't much better, completing 17 of 27 throws for 93 yards, a touchdown and an interception. That outing coupled with how he performed in practice this week looks like it'll be enough for Glennon to get another turn as the starter, with Raanan noting that the Giants don't intend to use him as part of a timeshare with Fromm. Even so, Glennon's prior production suggests he shouldn't be viewed as anything more than a low-end lineup option in leagues that start two quarterbacks or have a superflex spot.

  • Giants' Mike Glennon: Should see playing time Sunday

Glennon and Jake Fromm are both expected to receive playing time at quarterback in Sunday's game against the Bears, Darryl Slater of The Newark Star-Ledger reports. Benched after a three-game run as the Giants' starting signal-caller Glennon came off the bench in the second half of the team's Week 16 loss to the Eagles in relief of a struggling Fromm, finishing with 17 completions for 93 yards, a touchdown and an interception over 27 attempts. Although the veteran was slightly more effective than Fromm, his 3.4 YPA was still woeful. Head coach Joe Judge said Wednesday that he'll determine the starting quarterback for Week 17 based on the performances of the two in practices, but both Fromm and Glennon look on track to take some reps Sunday.

  • Giants' Mike Glennon: Headed for backup role

Glennon is set to move into a backup role Sunday against the Eagles with the Giants set to give Jake Fromm his first NFL start, sources tell Adam Schefter of ESPN. Head coach Joe Judge wasn't willing to confirm the Giants' plans at quarterback following the team's final practice of the week Friday, but multiple reports heading into the weekend suggested the team would demote Glennon to the backup role after he went 0-3 while completing just 51 percent of his passes for 4.6 yards per attempt and a 2:5 TD:INT while starting in place of the injured Daniel Jones (neck). Though Jones has been ruled out for the season, the Giants have seemingly determined that the 32-year-old Glennon -- who is set to become a free agent this offseason -- isn't part of their future plans. The 23-year-old Fromm, on the other hand, offers more upside as a developmental option behind Jones heading into next season, even though he's unproven at the NFL level and has already been dropped by the organization (Buffalo) that drafted him in the fifth round in 2020.

  • Giants' Mike Glennon: May not retain starting job

Giants head coach Joe Judge said Glennon and Jake Fromm will be evaluated in practice this week before the team names a starting quarterback for Sunday's game against the Eagles, Art Stapleton of The Bergen Record reports. Even with the Giants shutting down top quarterback Daniel Jones (neck) for the season by placing him on injured reserve Monday, Glennon doesn't look like he'll gain any job security as a result. While starting each of the past three games in place of Jones, Glennon has completed only 51 percent of his throws for 4.6 yards per attempt and a 2:5 TD:INT in mostly uncompetitive losses to the Dolphins, Chargers and Cowboys. Three of Glennon's interceptions came in the Week 15 loss to Dallas, prompting his removal late in the fourth quarter in favor of Fromm, who completed six of 12 attempts for 82 yards in garbage time. Though Fromm's performance did little to move the needle, the 23-year-old at least offers more theoretical upside at this stage of his career, so the 4-10 Giants may want to get an extended look at him as the team plays out the string on the season. The 32-year-old Glennon is on an expiring contract and has done little to demonstrate he's worthy of re-signing as a backup option heading into 2022.

  • Giants' Mike Glennon: Struggles on the road

Glennon completed 17 of 36 pass attempts for 191 yards, two touchdowns and one interception against the Chargers on Sunday. Glennon also lost a fumble, making for a brutal box score overall. To be fair to Glennon, the Chargers defense has been one of the league's tougher groups against the pass, and Glennon didn't receive concussion clearance until Friday. It's not clear whether Daniel Jones (neck) might be able to return for Week 15, but if he can't then Glennon would be expected to make the start against Dallas.

  • Giants' Mike Glennon: Clears concussion protocol

Glennon (concussion) cleared concussion protocol Friday afternoon and will start Sunday's game against the Chargers, Art Stapleton of The Bergen Record reports. He was a limited practice participant Thursday and a full participant Friday, while Daniel Jones (neck) remained limited but never was expected to play in any case. Glennon may have Sterling Shepard (questionable/quad) back in the slot this week, with wideout Kenny Golladay (questionable/ribs) also tentatively expected to play. Kadarius Toney, meanwhile, will be out for at least one more week with an oblique injury, unable to do much after returning to practice Thursday and Friday.

  • Giants' Mike Glennon: Officially listed as questionable

Glennon (concussion) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Chargers, while fellow quarterback Daniel Jones (neck) has been ruled out, Dan Salomone of the Giants' official site reports. Coach Joe Judge believes Glennon, a full practice participant Friday, will clear concussion protocol in time to start Sunday's game in Los Angeles. If that happens, he may have Kenny Golladay (questionable/ribs) and Sterling Shepard (questionable/quad) in the lineup, while Kadarius Toney (oblique) will miss another week. If Glennon isn't cleared, Jake Fromm will start under center for the injury-riddled Giants.

  • Giants' Mike Glennon: On track for start

Coach Joe Judge said Friday that Glennon (concussion) is "on track" to clear concussion protocol and start Sunday's game against the Chargers, Jordan Raanan of ESPN.com reports. Glennon will get the nod if he's cleared, as expected, while Jake Fromm will make his first NFL start if the veteran can't progress through concussion protocol before Sunday. It's still unclear who will be catching the passes, with a slew of Giants pass catchers on the injury report, per usual.

  • Giants' Mike Glennon: Not at practice

Glennon (concussion) didn't practice Wednesday, Zack Rosenblatt of The Newark Star-Ledger reports. Meanwhile Daniel Jones (neck) was a limited participant, but that doesn't represent any change from last week, when he took limited reps in practices Wednesday through Friday before being ruled out ahead of the Giants' loss to the Dolphins. Unless doctors clear Jones to take contact by week's end, he'll likely miss a second straight game, which would leave the Giants with either Glennon or the recently signed Jake Fromm as their starting quarterback this Sunday against the Chargers. Glennon was diagnosed with a concussion following his fill-in start Week 13, and he'll likely need to clear the NFL's five-step protocol for head injuries by Saturday to have a realistic shot and being ready to go for Sunday's contest.

  • Giants' Mike Glennon: Concussed in loss

Glennon was diagnosed with a concussion after Sunday's 20-9 loss to the Dolphins, Ralph Vacchiano of SportsNet New York reports. Glennon finished the game, so it's unclear exactly when the injury occured. However, he'll now have to clear protocol if he hopes to start under center in a Week 14 matchup against the Chargers. As for his Week 13 performance, Glennon struggled to get the offense moving, as he completed only 23 of his 44 passes for 187 yards, no touchdowns and one interception. Despite taking to the air frequently, Glennon managed to complete only one pass of 20 yards or more while also failing to lead the team to any touchdowns. Whether Glennon or Jake Fromm is under center in Week 14 against the Chargers, it will be difficult to trust any Giants skill-position players besides Saquon Barkley given the current state of their offense.

  • Giants' Mike Glennon: Confirmed for Week 13 start

Glennon is slated to start Sunday's game against the Dolphins after New York head coach Joe Judge ruled Daniel Jones (neck) out for the contest, Dan Salomone of the Giants' official site reports. Though Jones has been practicing on a limited basis this week, Judge noted that the third-year signal-caller won't be able to start Sunday since team doctors haven't cleared him to take contact while he contends with a neck strain. Glennon, who has also been taking reps with the first-team offense this week, will thus make his first start of the season with the Giants, after his lone previous action came in relief of a concussed Jones in Week 5 against the Cowboys. Over his most recent run as an NFL starter with the Jaguars in 2020, Glennon completed 62 percent of his passes for 6.0 yards per attempt and a 7:5 TD:INT over a five-game stretch. Given his unremarkable career numbers, lack of rushing contributions and matchup with a Miami pass defense that's turned a corner in recent weeks, Glennon likely won't be worthy of consideration outside of leagues that start two quarterbacks or have a superflex spot.

  • Giants' Mike Glennon: Spot start imminent

Glennon is slated to start for Daniel Jones (neck) on Sunday in Miami, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports. In the process of guiding the Giants to a Week 12 win against the Eagles, Jones suffered what was eventually deemed to be a strained neck. He completed that contest but now is considered week-to-week as a result of the injury. With Jones in line for at least one absence, Glennon will step in for his second appearance of the season after taking over for a concussed Jones back in Week 5 at Dallas, a game in which he completed 16 of 25 passes for 196 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions. Behind Glennon, Jake Fromm also is on the active roster after the Giants signed him off the Bills' practice squad.

  • Giants' Mike Glennon: Joins G-Men

Glennon is signing with the Giants, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports. Glennon joins a QB room with Daniel Jones and 2019 fifth-round pick Clayton Thorson. That makes Glennon the favorite for the backup job, though the Giants still have time to bring in someone better than Thorson as competition. The team might also consider drafting a QB, as Jones has been subpar through two seasons and could be benched if he struggles again in 2021.

  • Jaguars' Mike Glennon: Keeps starting job for finale

Head coach Doug Marrone confirmed Glennon would retain the Jaguars' starting quarterback job for Sunday's game against the Colts, Michael DiRocco of ESPN.com reports. Glennon replaced Gardner Minshew as the team's starter Week 16 and wasn't overly impressive in the Jaguars' 41-17 loss to the Bears, completing 24 of 37 attempts for 211 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions. The lackluster showing prompted Marrone to leave the door open for another quarterback change earlier this week, but after further review, the coach will stick with Glennon for the season finale. With Jacksonville having already locked up the No. 1 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft and expected to select a quarterback, Glennon -- an impending free agent -- likely will just be auditioning for a backup gig with the Jaguars or another team Week 17.

  • Jaguars' Mike Glennon: Pair of TDs in start

Glennon completed 24 of 37 passes for 211 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions in the Jaguars' 41-17 loss to the Bears on Sunday. Glennon's numbers were serviceable in his return to the starting job, but he still failed to put his team anywhere near a position to win. The eighth-year journeyman connected with DJ Chark and Laviska Shenault for his pair of scoring tosses, the latter coming in the fourth quarter long after the game was out of reach. As usual, there was bad to go along with Glennon's good, as both of his interceptions came in his own territory and led to a total of 10 points for the Bears. With the first overall pick in April's draft now guaranteed for the Jaguars by virtue of their loss and the Jets' win over the Browns, it remains to be seen if coach Doug Marrone sticks with Glennon for the Week 17 finale against the Colts.

  • Jaguars' Mike Glennon: Returns to starting role

Glennon will start Sunday's game against the Bears, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports. Glennon was sharing first-team reps with Gardner Minshew throughout practice this week, but the Jaguars opted to spin another round of the quarterback carousel by inserting the veteran signal caller into the starting lineup against his former team. The 31-year-old was hardly impressive during his three-game stint as the starter earlier this season, completing just 61 percent of his passes for 600 yards and a 3:3 TD:INT ratio. Save for the blowout Week 14 loss to the Titans, the Jaguars can at least argue they were relatively close in each of Glennon's starts, but it's still a puzzling decision nevertheless considering the promise shown by Minshew over the past two seasons. It hardly matters this week, however, considering the Bears defense likely will present problems for either quarterback in Week 16.

  • Jaguars' Mike Glennon: Returning to backup role

Glennon will revert to a backup role for Sunday's game at Baltimore, Mark Long of the Associated Press reports. The Jaguars' starting quarterback spot has been a merry go round since a Week 8 bye, with all of Jake Luton, Glennon and now Gardner Minshew under center. Glennon was pulled from this past Sunday's game against the Titans after committing his fourth turnover in a little more than six quarters. If he doesn't make another appearance this season, he'll finish 2020 with 600 yards, three touchdowns and three interceptions on 61 percent passing.
