The 49ers defense open the season at home on Sunday in Week 1 against the Packers. San Francisco will have a tough matchup against a quarterback in Aaron Rodgers that threw 39 touchdowns and eight interceptions last season.
San Francisco had a hard time containing Rodgers, as he racked up 250-plus yards and two-plus touchdowns, leading Green Bay to 53 points over two meetings last season. The Niners will also have to keep an eye on rookie running back Eddie Lacy, who can change up the pace of Green Bay's pass-heavy offense.
It wouldn't be realistic to expect a monster performance from the 49ers DST in Week 1. That said, Fantasy owners should still roll with San Francisco in all leagues and formats heading into the season opener at Candlestick Park.
