Spurs' Stephon Castle: Out for Summer League with wrist sprain
Castle suffered a right wrist sprain during Saturday's 83-77 win over Portland and has been ruled out for the remainder of the Las Vegas Summer League, Tom Orsborn of the San Antonio Express-News reports.
During his brief time on the court for the Spurs in Summer League, Castle flashed the potential that made him the No. 4 overall pick in the draft in June. Over two appearances in the California Classic and one in Las Vegas, Castle averaged 17.3 points, 5.7 rebounds, 4.0 assists, 1.3 steals and 1.3 three-pointers in 25.5 minutes while shooting 37 percent from the field. After the Spurs brought in veteran point guard Chris Paul in free agency, the 6-foot-6 Castle will likely spend most of his rookie season playing on the wing. He projects to open the season in head coach Gregg Popovich's rotation, likely as a backup to Devin Vassell (foot) or Harrison Barnes.

Spurs' Stephon Castle: Looks sharp in win
Castle recorded 22 points (8-21 FG, 2-6 3Pt, 4-6 FT), five rebounds, four assists and one steal over 29 minutes in Saturday's 83-77 Summer League win over the Trail Blazers.
Coming off a national championship with UConn, the 6-foot-6 guard finds himself with an exciting opportunity in San Antonio. Castle is likely to begin his career as a key reserve for the Spurs while learning from the likes of Chris Paul and Devin Vassell, though a starting spot may not be out of the question depending on how he fares during training camp.

Spurs' Stephon Castle: Goes No. 4 overall to Spurs
Castle was selected by the Spurs with the No. 4 overall pick in the 2024 NBA Draft.
A key piece in UConn's run to the national championship this spring, Castle will now team up with Victor Wembanyama in San Antonio. Checking in at 6-foot-6 with a 6-foot-9 wingspan, Castle has excellent size and is capable of playing both guard spots, as well as defending on the wing. Defense was his calling card at UConn, but the belief is that he'll be able to show off an expanded offensive package at the NBA level. Shooting is a major question mark for Castle, as he knocked down just 26.7 percent of his three-point attempts for the Huskies as a freshman. Castle will likely be given the opportunity to compete for a starting spot from Day 1 with San Antonio.
