Spurs' Stephon Castle: Efficient in loss Friday
Castle finished Friday's 140-112 loss to the Grizzlies with 20 points (7-11 FG, 1-3 3Pt, 5-7 FT), four rebounds, four assists and one steal over 25 minutes.
Victor Wembanyama stole the show with his impressive stat line in this blowout loss, but Castle was one of the few silver linings outside of the Frenchman, as he posted another impressive line. The rookie out of UConn has scored at least 20 points in three games in a row, which is his longest streak of the season, and he's recorded double-digit points in five of his seven January appearances so far.

Spurs' Stephon Castle: Back-to-back scoring outbursts
Castle supplied 26 points (9-21 FG, 2-9 3Pt, 6-7 FT), three rebounds and four assists over 32 minutes during Wednesday's 129-115 loss to the Grizzlies.
Castle has found his groove as a starter, scoring 23 points or more in the last two games. The 20-year-old has been filling in for Jeremy Sochan (back) and starting the three games for the Spurs. He's averaging 14.8 points, 2.6 rebounds, and 4.3 assists per game and shooting 40.7 percent from the floor as a starter for San Antonio.

Spurs' Stephon Castle: Scores 23 points Monday
Castle racked up 23 points (10-16 FG, 1-4 3Pt, 2-4 FT), four rebounds, one assist and two steals across 36 minutes during Monday's 126-102 win over the Lakers.
With Jeremy Sochan (back) sidelined, Castle remained in a starting role despite his five-point dud against the Bucks on Jan. 8, and he responded by tying the best scoring output of his career while establishing a new career-high in field goals made. Castle has been switching between the starting lineup and the bench, but the rookie out of UConn has been excellent when deployed in the first unit. Through 20 starts, Castle is averaging 14.3 points, 2.6 rebounds, 4.3 assists and 1.0 steals per game.

Spurs' Stephon Castle: Solid numbers off bench
Castle chipped in 15 points (5-8 FG, 0-3 3Pt, 5-6 FT), four rebounds, four assists, one block and one steal in 23 minutes off the bench during Tuesday's 122-86 victory over the Clippers.
The rookie guard has struggled to adjust to being back on the second unit, but Castle produced a solid all-round effort Tuesday. It was just the second time in the last eight games he's even scored in double digits, and Castle's averaging a tepid 7.6 points, 2.9 assists and 2.3 boards in 18.0 minutes a contest during that span, coming off the bench each time. Castle started the second half in place of Jeremy Sochan (back) and would likely stick in the starting lineup if Sochan misses additional time.

Spurs' Stephon Castle: Pops in limited minutes
Castle produced 17 points (7-9 FG, 1-2 3Pt, 2-2 FT), three rebounds, one assist and one steal across 13 minutes during Monday's 111-106 loss to the 76ers.
Despite a tiny workload, Castle made the most of his limited minutes. However, he picked up four quick fouls, ruining what could've been a much bigger performance. His counting stats have been solid in December, but he's shooting just 37.3 percent from the field and 22.2 percent from beyond the arc over his last nine games.

Spurs' Stephon Castle: Questionable to play Sunday
Castle (shoulder) is questionable for Sunday's game against the Timberwolves, Paul Garcia of ProjectSpurs.com reports.
Castle missed Friday's win over the Trail Blazers due to a left shoulder contusion, and the fact that he's been upgraded to questionable suggests the rookie could return to the hardwood for this upcoming contest after a one-game absence. Castle has emerged as a regular starter for the Spurs, as he's been part of the first unit in 17 of his 24 appearances so far. He's averaging 14.6 points, 4.5 assists, 2.6 rebounds and 1.1 steals per game when deployed in a starting role.

Spurs' Stephon Castle: Not playing Friday
Castle is out for Friday's game against the Trail Blazers due to a left shoulder contusion, Paul Garcia of ProjectSpurs.com reports.
Castle banged his shoulder in the second quarter of the 121-116 win over the Pelicans on Dec. 8, a game in which he finished with 22 points, five rebounds and four assists across 34 minutes. Even though the early diagnosis was just a bruise, the rookie will receive some extra rest and will sit out Friday's rematch against Portland. His next chance to play will come against the Timberwolves on Sunday.

Spurs' Stephon Castle: Explodes after trip to locker room
Castle amassed 22 points (8-15 FG, 2-5 3Pt, 4-5 FT), five rebounds, four assists and one steal across 34 minutes during Sunday's 121-116 victory over the Pelicans.
Castle banged his shoulder in the second quarter, forcing a brief trip to the locker room. He was back on the bench before halftime and inflicted significant damage for the remainder of the game. Castle scored 12 points in the fourth quarter when he converted two three-point attempts, adding a rebound and a steal. The Spurs are headed into a four-day break before their next game, so Castle's injury is unlikely to be a burden after the rest period.

Spurs' Stephon Castle: Drops 16 points in loss
Castle racked up 16 points (5-14 FG, 1-6 3Pt, 5-6 FT), one rebound, three assists and one steal across 34 minutes during Tuesday's 104-93 loss to the Suns.
Although the rookie has a few growing pains to endure, Castle is successfully holding onto a starting role, which he acquired after Devin Vassell was injured. Castle has yet to give up the role, although Vassell's condition is improving and he's grabbing more minutes from Harrison Barnes in the short-term. As long as Castle continues to produce, he should have a consistent presence with the first unit.

Spurs' Stephon Castle: Matches season high in victory
Castle ended Tuesday's 128-115 victory over Utah with 23 points (9-20 FG, 3-8 3Pt, 2-4 FT), three rebounds, five assists and one block in 29 minutes.
The backcourt combination of Castle and Chris Paul is reaping benefits for the Spurs, as there is plenty of opportunity for both players to benefit. The 2024 first-round pick has made an immediate contribution and is a key piece responsible for the Spurs' surprising 10-8 record. The UConn product is expected to remain with the first unit for the foreseeable future.

Spurs' Stephon Castle: Stuffs stat sheet Saturday
Castle contributed 19 points (7-15 FG, 2-7 3Pt, 3-4 FT), three rebounds, three assists and one steal in 33 minutes during Saturday's 104-94 victory over the Warriors.
Castle has settled in well as a starter, and his streak of games with at least 10 points has now reached nine appearances. The rookie forms an excellent backcourt tandem with Chris Paul, and all signs point to the rookie continuing to flourish as a starter with a rebuilding San Antonio team. Castle is averaging 14.3 points and 4.5 assists per game since being promoted to a starting gig 10 games ago.
