Daeqwon Plowden: Hits waiver wire
Plowden was waived by the Magic on Saturday, Philip Rossman-Reich of OrlandoMagicDaily.com reports.
Plowden shouldered a nice chunk of playing time during Orlando's last preseason game against Flamengo, but he was unable to do much with the opportunity (three points, two rebounds, two assists and one steal in 23 minutes). As a result, he'll head to waivers and could end up reporting to the Magic's G League affiliate, the Osceola Magic.

Magic's Daeqwon Plowden: Signs with Orlando
Plowden signed a contract with the Magic on Wednesday.
Plowden spent the 2022-23 campaign in the G League, averaging 8.3 points, 3.5 rebounds and 1.3 assists in 20.4 minutes per game over 24 appearances with the Birmingham Squadron. It wouldn't be surprising to see him back in the G League once the regular season begins.

Daeqwon Plowden: Scores 19 points off bench
Plowden had 19 points (5-7 FG, 3-4 3Pt, 3-3 FT), three rebounds, three assists and a block across 24 minutes off the bench in Thursday's overtime win over Santa Cruz.
Plowden has had a lesser role for the Squadron this season, but he has been turning things around in recent weeks. That won't matter much, however, as Birmingham is already eliminated from the playoff race. Plowden has scored in double digits in each of his last three appearances.

Daeqwon Plowden: Sniffs double-double
Plowden had 18 points (6-9 FG, 3-4 3Pt, 2-2 FT), nine rebounds, an assist and a steal across 23 minutes off the bench in Tuesday's win over Santa Cruz.
Plowden was one of seven Birmingham players to score in double digits in this game, but he also ended just one rebound shy of a double-double, so this was a strong performance for him. In fact, the 18-point outing was his second-best mark of the season, and the nine boards tied his season-best output in that category.

Plowden (illness) registered eight points (3-5 FG, 1-2 3Pt, 1-1 FT), two rebounds and an assist across 20 minutes off the bench in Thursday's loss to the Blue.
Plowden was one of two players that didn't reach the 20-minute threshold for the Squadron, but at least he's now available after missing several games with an illness before the All-Star break. That said, he's not expected to have a major role going forward.

Plowden delivered 24 points (8-10 FG, 4-5 3Pt, 2-3 FT), three rebounds and an assist across 31 minutes off the bench in Tuesday's loss to the Vipers.
Plowden led Birmingham in scoring during this loss after posting one of the most efficient performances of his career. Plowden has yet to start a game for Birmingham this season, but he's still averaging 7.7 points across 20.6 minutes per contest.

Daeqwon Plowden: Limited output once again
Plowden recorded five points (2-5 FG, 1-3 3Pt), four rebounds, two assists and a block across 20 minutes off the bench in Thursday's 113-107 loss to South Bay.
Plowden has not done much off the bench for the Squadron, and while he posted decent peripheral stats in this one, he remains a deep-bench alternative for Birmingham. He shouldn't be trusted to produce on a steady basis in the future.

Plowden recorded nine points (3-5 FG, 1-3 3Pt, 1-3 FT), three rebounds and an assist across 26 minutes off the bench in Sunday's loss to Mexico City.
Plowden is settled as a contributor off the bench, and while he is not expected to post eye-popping numbers on a regular basis, it's worth noting that he was extremely efficient in this game and tends to post decent numbers even when he doesn't receive a lot of playing time. He's averaging 9.9 points and 3.5 rebounds per contest.

Plowden recorded 16 points (6-14 FG, 4-8 3Pt, 0-1 FT), seven rebounds and two assists across 38 minutes in Friday's loss against the Vipers.
Plowden has not shot the ball extremely well in his first two appearances of the season, but he's been getting the job done with back-to-back double-digit scoring performances. He's also shooting an impressive 50 percent from three-point range, going 7-for-14 in that two-game span.

Plowden was on an Exhibit 10 contract, so there's a strong chance he lands in the G League. In 51 preseason minutes, he totaled 20 points, eight rebounds, four blocks, three assists and one steal.
