Mavericks' Richaun Holmes: Moves into starting lineup
Holmes will start Saturday's game against the Clippers.
Dereck Lively is sitting out with a back issue, but it sounds like he's day-to-day. Holmes played well Wednesday against the Lakers with four points, 10 rebounds, one assist and a block in 23 minutes, and he'll have a big opportunity to build some momentum Saturday.

Mavericks' Richaun Holmes: Makes impression in limited action
Holmes recorded two points (1-1 FG), two rebounds, one steal and one block in nine minutes during Thursday's preseason opener against the Timberwolves in Abu Dhabi.
Holmes was used sparingly for the Kings last season before completely falling out of the rotation. He is looking for a fresh start in Dallas but finds himself in a crowded frontcourt. The Mavericks drafted Olivier-Maxence Prosper and Dereck Lively, signed Holmes and Grant Williams and also have returning players like Maxi Kleber, Dwight Powell and Josh Green who all figure to have consistent minutes. Holmes will need to impress during preseason action to carve out a reserve role to begin the 2023-24 campaign.

Mavericks' Richaun Holmes: Headed to Dallas
Holmes was traded from the Kings to the Mavericks on Thursday along with the No. 24 pick in the 2023 NBA Draft, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports.
The Mavs created a trade exception earlier on Draft Night when they sent Davis Bertans to the Thunder, and they'll immediately use that exception to add some much-needed veteran depth up front. Holmes played sparingly in 42 games for the Kings last season, but in 2021-22 he averaged 10.4 points, 7.0 rebounds, 1.1 assists and 0.9 blocks while shooting 66.0 percent from the field. Holmes should have a decent chance to start at center for the Mavs, who also added Duke big man Dereck Lively with the No. 12 overall pick. Dallas selected Olivier-Maxence Prosper with the No. 24 overall selection.

Holmes has played at least 15 minutes six times this season, averaging 9.5 points, 6.5 rebounds and 1.0 assists in 20.2 minutes during those contests.

Holmes had been battling a non-COVID illness, but he's deemed available to play. However, he has played four total minutes since the All-Star break and is currently out of the Kings' rotation, so his return won't affect many fantasy decisions.

Kings' Richaun Holmes: Available to play
Holmes (illness) will be available to play Monday against the Pelicans.
While Holmes will be available, that doesn't mean he'll actually touch the floor. He's rarely a part of the Sacramento rotation, and as long as Domantas Sabonis is healthy, he can remain on the waiver wire in most leagues.
