The 25-year-old outfielder received the chance to make his big-league debut in 2022 but didn't distinguish himself over his 81 plate appearances for Miami, slashing .182/.210/.338 while striking out at a 39.5 percent clip. He'll likely be in line to spend most of the 2023 campaign at Jacksonville unless injuries to other outfielders open up a more extended opportunity in the majors.

Encarnacion has some of the best raw power in the Marlins' system, but he's probably not ready to hold his own against big-league pitching. He hit .253/.298/.372 with a 26.1 percent strikeout rate and a 6.3 percent walk rate in 67 games at High-A last year. The 22-year-old corner outfielder needs to be added to the 40-man roster after the season if the Marlins want to protect him from the Rule 5 draft, so his inclusion on the summer camp roster should give the top decision makers more information to work with when making that decision.
