Bryce Eldridge got better as the year went on, even as he faced more advanced competition. A former two-way prospect who now projects as the Giants' first baseman of the future, Eldridge hit 10 homers with a 26.6 percent strikeout rate and a .263 average in 51 games at Single-A before getting promoted to High-A in late June. He hit .335 (.404 BABIP) with 12 homers and a 24.2 percent strikeout rate in 48 games at High-A, where pitchers started to pay him more respect, as he more than doubled his walk rate from 7.4 percent at Single-A to 16.3 percent at High-A. He was promoted to Double-A in early September and to Triple-A after the Double-A season wrapped in mid-September, but just because he climbed to the highest level of the minors doesn't mean he'll return there at the beginning of 2025. Eldridge turned 20 in October and should head to Double-A to start the year. Despite a 6-foot-7 frame, Eldridge made an acceptable amount of contact (over 70 percent until he got to Triple-A) for a very young slugger with at least 70-grade raw power. The lefty-hitting Eldridge logged just a .588 OPS with a 29.6 percent strikeout rate in 125 plate appearances against same-handed pitchers, but he's enough of a prized prospect (No. 16 overall pick in 2023) that he won't be platooned long term unless he doesn't make any improvements.

  • Giants' Bryce Eldridge: Battling sore hand

Eldridge won't play in Saturday's Spring Breakout game due to minor left hand soreness, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports. While Eldridge's hand issue will be enough to keep him from playing Saturday, it doesn't sound like it's going to keep him from playing in any Triple-A games once the minor-league season begins. The 20-year-old first baseman breezed through San Francisco's farm system last season but slowed down considerably once he reached Triple-A. He'll likely spend most of the season with Sacramento, though a debut in 2025 is certainly on the table.

  • Giants' Bryce Eldridge: Reassigned to minors camp

The Giants reassigned Eldridge to minor-league camp Wednesday, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports. He was one of a host of cuts the Giants made Wednesday. Eldridge managed to make it all the way to Triple-A Sacramento in 2024 as a 19-year-old (he's 20 now), so he's just a step away from the big leagues. However, it's not a surprise that he's a relatively early cut from major-league camp, as the top prospect could still use a little development. A debut at some point in 2025 is in play for Eldridge.

  • Giants' Bryce Eldridge: Receives spring training invite

The Giants have extended Eldridge an invitation to big-league camp during spring training, Shayna Rubin of the San Francisco Chronicle reports. The Giants' top prospect, Eldridge stormed through four levels in the minors in 2024 in his first full professional season, slashing .292/.374/.516 with 23 home runs. Eldridge is only 20, but the first baseman could push to make his major-league debut at some point during the 2025 season.

  • Giants' Bryce Eldridge: Rises to Double-A

Eldridge was promoted from High-A Eugene to Double-A Richmond on Tuesday. Eldridge couldn't be stopped at High-A, slashing .333/.442/.615 with 12 home runs, 41 RBI, 35 runs scored and three stolen bases over 48 contests. The top prospect will close out the year with a taste of Double-A, which is where he is likely to begin in 2025. A strong campaign next year could position him for his major-league debut in the second half of 2025.
