  • Marlins' Anthony Veneziano: Seeing heavy usage early

Veneziano recorded his third hold of the season in Friday's loss to the Nationals, getting charged with two runs on one hit and one walk over one-third of an inning. The southpaw recorded the final out of the seventh inning and then came back out for the eighth, but after putting the first two hitters aboard in the frame, Veneziano was lifted for Anthony Bender, who proceeded to let both inherited runners come around to score. As the only lefty in the Miami bullpen, Veneziano has appeared in seven of the team's first 13 games, posting a 6.23 ERA and 5:3 K:BB over 4.1 innings.

  • Marlins' Anthony Veneziano: Claimed by Miami

The Marlins claimed Veneziano off waivers from the Royals on Tuesday. The left-hander was designated for assignment by Kansas City over the weekend, and Miami scooped him up to bolster its bullpen depth. Veneziano has made just two big-league appearances this season and has a 4.80 ERA, 1.47 WHIP and 76:42 K:BB across 31 outings (14 starts) at Triple-A.

  • Royals' Anthony Veneziano: Sent to Triple-A

The Royals optioned Veneziano to Triple-A Omaha on Monday. Veneziano's latest stint with Kansas City lasted just two days, with the left-hander appearing in relief both Saturday and Sunday against the Orioles and allowing two runs (one earned) on four hits and one walk. The Royals called up right-hander Tyler Duffey from Triple-A to replace Veneziano in the bullpen.

  • Royals' Anthony Veneziano: Back in majors

The Royals recalled Veneziano from Triple-A Omaha on Saturday. Veneziano was called up to be the Royals' 27th man during their doubleheader Wednesday, though he never appeared in a game before being returned to Omaha. He's posted a 4.15 ERA and 1.46 WHIP across 13 innings in the minors this year, and he'll presumably serve in a multi-inning relief role while in Kansas City. Jordan Lyles (personal) was placed on the inactive list in a corresponding move.

  • Royals' Anthony Veneziano: Optioned to Omaha

The Royals optioned Veneziano to Triple-A Omaha on Wednesday. Veneziano threw 2.1 scoreless frames in the majors at the very end of last season but struggled to find his footing during spring training, surrendering seven earned runs in just 6.1 innings. The 26-year-old southpaw turned in a 4.22 ERA and 1.41 WHIP across 89.2 innings at Omaha last season, and he could return to the big leagues should Kansas City's pitching staff run into depth issues during the season.

  • Royals' Anthony Veneziano: Gets call to majors

The Royals selected Veneziano's contract from Triple-A Omaha on Tuesday. The left-hander has a 4.22 ERA, 1.41 WHIP and 79:43 K:BB across 89.2 innings (18 appearances) for Omaha this season, and he'll receive a look with the major-league club down the stretch. Veneziano could help fill the rotation spot of Brady Singer, who landed on the injured list Tuesday with a back strain.
