Orioles' Cade Povich: Beginning rehab assignment
Povich (hip) is scheduled to begin a rehab assignment Sunday, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports.
It's unclear what level Povich's minor-league rehab assignment will start at, but it's an encouraging sign for the left-hander after he was pulled off his initial assignment June 30 due to renewed soreness in his left hip. Povich worked up to 75 pitches before sustaining the setback, but it's unclear how stretched out he is currently.

Orioles' Cade Povich: Back to throwing
Povich (hip) is scheduled to throw a bullpen session Wednesday, Jake Rill of MLB.com reports.
The left-hander was pulled off his rehab assignment in late May due to renewed soreness in his left hip, but after being re-evaluated and receiving a second opinion, he was cleared to resume throwing. Wednesday will be Povich's second bullpen session since the soreness resurfaced, and he could resume the rehab assignment soon if he avoids further issues.

Orioles' Cade Povich: Pulled off rehab with sore hip
Povich has been pulled off his rehab assignment due to renewed soreness in his left hip, Andy Kostka of TheBaltimoreBanner.com reports.
Povich threw 75 pitches in a rehab start with Triple-A Norfolk last Thursday but evidently he came out of the appearance with lingering soreness in his injured hip. The Orioles have not yet determined what the next step for Povich is, but his return to the big-league rotation has been delayed indefinitely.

Povich (hip) is beginning a rehab assignment with Triple-A Norfolk on Thursday, Matt Weyrich of The Baltimore Sun reports.

Orioles' Cade Povich: Nearing rehab assignment
Orioles interim manager Tony Mansolino said Monday that Povich (hip) will begin a rehab assignment soon, Jake Rill of MLB.com reports.
The specific day and affiliate are not yet known, but Povich is nearly ready to pitch in a game after being placed on the 15-day injured list a week ago with left hip inflammation. Povich is eligible to be activated July 1, and he has a good chance to be ready to go by that day if his upcoming rehab appearance goes smoothly.

The Orioles placed Povich on the 15-day injured list Monday with left hip inflammation.
Povich registered a win in bulk relief Sunday against the Angels but evidently came out of the appearance with a hip injury. The Orioles have not announced who will be taking Povich's spot in the rotation, but Trevor Rogers is a logical choice.

Orioles' Cade Povich: Earns win in bulk role
Povich (2-5) earned the win Sunday over the Angels, allowing three hits and a walk over 3.2 scoreless innings. He struck out four.
After Scott Blewett gave up two runs in the first 2.2 innings, Povich settled things down in his first appearance out of the bullpen this season en route to his first win since April 24. It was an encouraging effort from the left-hander, after he'd given up 12 runs over 14.2 innings in his previous three starts. Overall, Povich sports a 5.15 ERA with a 1.50 WHIP and 68:23 K:BB across 64.2 innings this season. It seems likely that Povich will work behind an opener again in his next appearance, tentatively lined up for next week against the Yankees, following the positive result Sunday.

Orioles' Cade Povich: Likely to follow opener Sunday
Povich is expected to work in bulk relief behind opening pitcher Scott Blewett in Sunday's game against the Angels, Jake Rill of MLB.com reports.
Povich was initially penciled in to start Sunday, but he's given up 12 runs in his past three starts, and the Orioles will instead utilize an opener with the hope that it yields better results. Baltimore hasn't officially announced their pitching plans for Sunday after Blewett exits the game, but Povich is still a strong bet to pitch.

Orioles' Cade Povich: Mauled by Tigers
Povich (1-5) took the loss Tuesday, coughing up five runs on nine hits and a walk over 4.2 innings as Baltimore fell 5-3 to Detroit.
Five of the nine hits off the southpaw went for extra bases, including a two-run shot by Spencer Torkelson in the fifth inning and a pair of Zach McKinstry triples. Povich has been tagged for five runs in three of his last six starts, stumbling to a 5.74 ERA and 1.40 WHIP over that stretch despite a sharp 39:10 K:BB in 31.1 innings. He'll look for his first win since April 24 in his next trip to the mound, which lines up to come at home this weekend against the Angels.

Orioles' Cade Povich: Fans nine in no-decision
Povich did not factor into the decision against the Nationals on Friday, allowing two runs on three hits and two walks while striking out nine across 5.2 innings.
Povich had extra rest entering Friday's game after his original start Tuesday against the Twins was postponed due to rain. The time off appeared to help the 25-year-old southpaw, as he registered a season-high nine strikeouts and was one out shy from logging his third quality start of the season. Povich has a 5.23 ERA, 1.45 WHIP and 38:14 K:BB across 41.1 innings, and he is lined up to face the Brewers on the road next week.

Orioles' Cade Povich: Next start pushed to weekend
Manager Brandon Hyde confirmed that Povich will make his next start during the Orioles' home series versus the Nationals this weekend, Jacob Calvin Meyer of The Baltimore Sun reports.
Povich initially lined up to start Tuesday against the Twins, but after that game was postponed, the Orioles won't have him pitch against Minnesota and will instead push his next start back a few days. Chayce McDermott will be recalled from Triple-A Norfolk and is expected to make a spot start or serve as a bulk reliever in the second game of Wednesday's doubleheader versus Minnesota to fill the gap in the rotation. As Meyer notes, being moved off of a start against a righty-heavy Twins lineup should be more favorable for the left-handed Povich, who now gets to face a Nationals lineup that typically features four lefty bats (James Wood, CJ Abrams, Nathaniel Lowe and Luis Garcia).
