Guardians' Jhon Romero: Finds new organization
Romero signed a minor-league contract with the Guardians on Monday. Before electing free agency last November, Romero most recently pitched in the Twins organization, though he was limited to just four appearances at the big-league level in 2022 before missing the majority of the season with a biceps injury. Romero has since overcome the injury, as he recently made three appearances for Team Colombia during the World Baseball Classic and is now scheduled to pitch in a minor-league game for the Guardians on Monday. Romero, who has pitched nine total innings in the big leagues between the Nationals and Twins, is expected to open the 2023 season at Triple-A Columbus.... See More ... See Less -
Twins' Jhon Romero: Placed on outright waivers
Romero (biceps) was placed on outright waivers on Tuesday by the Twins, Brandon Warne of Access Twins reports. Romero began the 2022 season pitching out of the Twins' bullpen, but he did not pitch after April 23 due to biceps tendinitis. It's unclear how he's progressing in his recovery, but he could eventually serve as a solid bullpen arm for the Twins or another organization if he can return to health.... See More ... See Less -
Twins' Jhon Romero: Shifts to 60-day IL
Romero (biceps) was transferred to the 60-day injured list Wednesday. The 27-year-old landed on the shelf April 23 with right biceps inflammation, and he'll now be sidelined until at least late June. It's unclear where Romero currently stands in his rehab program.... See More ... See Less -
Twins' Jhon Romero: Out with biceps tendinitis
Romero landed on the injured list Saturday with right biceps tendinitis, Megan Ryan of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports. Romero has allowed two runs on nine hits in five innings of relief work this season, striking out six while walking one. He doesn't have a clear recovery timeline yet, but biceps tendinitis can sometimes knock a player out for multiple months. Catcher Jose Godoy was called up to take Romero's place on the roster.... Nationals' Jhon Romero: Designated for assignment
Romero was designated for assignment by the Nationals on Thursday, Mark Zuckerman of MASNSports.com reports. Romero got his first taste of major-league action in 2021 and allowed two runs on five hits while striking out three in four innings with the Nationals. He'll now lose his spot on the 40-man roster after Washington signed Nelson Cruz, but he'll likely have the chance to provide depth in the bullpen at some point in 2022 if he remains in the organization....
