Pallante (2-0) allowed a hit and struck out one over one scoreless inning in Saturday's 4-3 win against the Red Sox. The Cardinals produced a comeback win for the second game in a row, and Pallante was the beneficiary after their three-run rally in the ninth inning. It's been mixed results for Pallante since he was recalled from Triple-A Memphis. He has given up a run in 4.1 innings while earning a win, a hold and a blown save over three appearances. The right-hander has a 5.68 ERA, 1.58 WHIP and 10:5 K:BB through 12.2 innings overall as a middle reliever this season.... See More ... See Less

Cardinals' Andre Pallante: Recalled from Triple-A
The Cardinals recalled Pallante from Triple-A Memphis on Tuesday, Katie Woo of The Athletic reports. Pallante pitched well during his three-week stay at Memphis and will now look to get back to his 2022 form. He had surrendered seven earned runs on 12 hits and four walks over 8.1 innings this season with St. Louis prior to his mid-April demotion.... See More ... See Less -
Cardinals' Andre Pallante: Optioned to Triple-A
Pallante was optioned Tuesday to Triple-A Memphis. JoJo Romero will join the Cardinals' bullpen in a corresponding move. Pallante served up a grand slam to Pavin Smith on Monday night and has allowed seven earned runs on 12 hits and four walks through 8.1 major-league innings for the year.... See More ... See Less -
Cardinals' Andre Pallante: Snags win Wednesday
Pallante (1-0) allowed an inherited runner to score but was not charged with a run in one inning of work, earning the win despite taking a blown save Wednesday versus the Rockies. Pallante got the last two outs of the seventh inning, but he still got a blown save since an inherited runner scored on a fielder's choice. The Cardinals retook the lead in the eighth and held onto it, putting Pallante in line for his first win in six appearances this season. The right-hander has struggled a bit with a 7.11 ERA and 1.74 WHIP over 6.1 innings, and he's added one hold. For now, he's likely to see work in middle relief.... See More ... See Less -
Cardinals' Andre Pallante: Handed loss Thursday
Pallante (6-5) allowed a run on two hits in one-third of an inning, taking the loss Thursday versus the Nationals. Pallante's had a rough start to September, allowing six runs over 1.2 innings across three appearances. He was tagged with his first loss since July 5, which was back when he was still in the Cardinals' rotation. The right-hander's misstep Thursday was discouraging, but he still has a 3.27 ERA with a 1.41 WHIP and 69:35 K:BB through 99 innings across 38 appearances (10 starts). He's added seven holds, but he'll likely see lower-leverage assignments while he's struggling.... See More ... See Less -
Cardinals' Andre Pallante: Earns extra-innings victory
Pallante (6-4) got the win after he pitched three innings, giving up an unearned run on three hits and three walks while striking out one in Wednesday's 5-3 extra-innings win over the Reds. Pallante entered the game in the bottom of the 11th inning with the score tied, pitching two scoreless frames before the Cardinals busted the game wide open in the top of the 13th. He entered the bottom of the 13th with a 5-2 lead, allowing the baserunner to score from second on a Jake Fraley single before getting the final two outs of the contest. Pallante has now produced a 0.77 ERA and 0.99 WHIP with 18 strikeouts over 23.1 innings in his last eight appearances.... See More ... See Less -
Cardinals' Andre Pallante: Earns win over Yankees
Pallante (5-4) allowed three hits and two walks over four scoreless innings to earn the win Friday over the Yankees. Making his first relief appearance since June 15, Pallante delivered an excellent outing to keep the Cardinals in the contest after a lackluster start from Dakota Hudson. Manager Oli Marmol hinted after the game that Hudson's spot in the rotation could be up for grabs, with Pallante the most likely candidate to fill it, Katie Woo of The Athletic reports. Pallante has excelled in a versatile role this year, logging a 3.03 ERA, 1.40 WHIP and 61:29 K:BB across 86 innings in 29 appearances (10 starts). Hudson's spot in the rotation comes up again next week in Colorado, which would likely be a daunting assignment for either pitcher.... See More ... See Less -
Cardinals' Andre Pallante: Fires gem in Washington
Pallante (4-4) allowed five hits and a walk over eight shutout innings Sunday, striking out eight and earning a win over the Nationals. Pallante never let a runner get past second base in Sunday's dominant victory. He posted a 5.72 in his previous eight outings since his last scoreless appearance June 10. The 23-year-old righty set new career bests with his eight innings and eight punchouts. Pallante will carry a 3.18 ERA into his projected home outing against the Yankees next week.... See More ... Cardinals' Andre Pallante: Lasts four innings versus Toronto
Pallante tossed four innings, allowing three runs on seven hits while striking out four in Tuesday's loss to the Blue Jays. He did not factor into the decision. Pallante surrendered a two-run homer to Vladimir Guerrero and an RBI single to Matt Chapman in the bottom of the first frame, accounting for all the damage against him in this one. The right-hander was replaced after the fourth inning, leaving the game in a 3-3 tie. Pallante has had a difficult July, producing a 7.85 ERA over four starts during the month. The tough stretch has his season numbers up to a 3.53 ERA and 1.47 WHIP with 51 strikeouts over 74 innings in 27 appearances, including nine starts.... See More ... See Less -
Cardinals' Andre Pallante: Collects third win
Pallante (3-4) earned the win during Friday's 7-3 victory over Cincinnati, allowing three runs on six hits and three walks with five strikeouts in five innings. Pallante surrendered two runs on three hits in the first inning and another run on three baserunners in the third but retired nine of 10 Reds in the other three frames. The five strikeouts matched a season best for the 23-year-old rookie, though Pallante has struggled through three July starts with 13 runs and 29 baserunners permitted through 14.1 innings. His season numbers are still solid and feature a 3.34 ERA and 1.46 WHIP with 47 strikeouts in 70 innings across 26 appearances and eight starts.... See More ... See Less -
Cardinals' Andre Pallante: Allows 10 baserunners
Pallante allowed three runs on nine hits and a walk while striking out four in 5.2 innings in a 4-3 win Sunday over Philadelphia. He did not factor into the decision. Pallante gave up a single to each of the first three batters he faced but managed to limit the damage to one run in the first. After retiring the side in order in the next two innings, he again allowed three straight singles in the fourth, leading to another run. The final run came on a Kyle Schwarber solo shot to lead off the fifth. In two starts in July, the 23-year-old has allowed 10 runs on 19 hits, including three homers, in 9.1 innings. His next start will likely be this weekend against the Reds.... See More ... See Less -
Cardinals' Andre Pallante: Surrenders seven runs in loss
Pallante (3-3) took the loss during Tuesday's 7-1 loss to Atlanta, allowing seven runs on 10 hits with five strikeouts and zero walks in 3.2 innings. Pallante had his first rough outing as a starter, permitting five runs in the first and another two in the fourth before pulled. The 23-year-old tossed 66 of 96 pitches for strikes, with eight of the swinging variety and a healthy five strikeouts -- tying his season high. In six starts, Pallante has posted a 4.26 ERA and 1.42 WHIP in 31.2 innings. He tentatively lines up to start again this weekend against Philadelphia.... See More ... See Less -
Cardinals' Andre Pallante: Strong work in no-decision
Pallante allowed two runs on five hits and a walk with two strikeouts over seven innings in a no-decision versus the Marlins on Wednesday. Pallante threw 60 of 96 pitches for strikes, though he was able to avoid taking a loss for a fourth straight start. He left the game in line for the win, but Ryan Helsley blew the save in the ninth inning. Pallante is now stretched out fully as a starter, and the Cardinals' injury-plagued rotation means he's likely to remain in that role for a while. He owns a 2.10 ERA, 1.31 WHIP and 33:22 K:BB in 55.2 innings across 23 appearances (five starts) overall. The rookie right-hander is projected for a road start in Atlanta next week.... See More ... Cardinals' Andre Pallante: Handed second straight loss
Pallante (2-2) allowed two runs on four hits and a walk over 5.2 innings Sunday, striking out four and taking a loss against Boston. Pallante served up a solo home run to Trevor Story in the second inning followed by an RBI single from Jackie Bradley in the fifth. He's given up four runs over eight innings in his last two outings, raising his season ERA from 1.04 to 1.69 in the process. Pallante is projected to make his fourth start of the year next week at home against the Cubs.... See More ... See Less -
Cardinals' Andre Pallante: Takes loss in relief
Pallante (2-1) allowed two runs on two hits and a walk with one strikeout over 2.1 innings, taking the loss Wednesday versus the Pirates. As expected, Pallante made a relief appearance Wednesday with the return of Jack Flaherty (shoulder) from the injured list. In the seventh inning, Pallante yielded a two-run home run to Bryan Reynolds, which was the last scoring action in the contest. This was the rookie right-hander's first loss in 20 appearances (two starts). He's been effective with a 1.46 ERA, 1.41 WHIP And 25:17 K:BB through 37 innings overall. If the Cardinals stick to their original plans, Wednesday's outing amounted to a between-starts live bullpen session for Pallante, who is expected to be available to start as soon as Sunday versus the Red Sox.... Cardinals' Andre Pallante: Pushed off Wednesday start
Pallante won't start Wednesday's game against the Pirates as originally planned and will instead serve as a "bridge" reliever behind Jack Flaherty (shoulder) in that contest, Katie Woo of The Athletic reports. Flaherty is forgoing a third rehab start in the minors and instead returning from the 60-day injured list Wednesday, but he'll be limited to 60 pitches since he isn't fully stretched out yet, according to Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. Though Pallante will work behind Flaherty, the 23-year-old rookie is unlikely to serve as a primary pitcher out of the bullpen. Instead, Pallante is expected to cover no more than one or two innings, which would be the rough equivalent of a between-starts bullpen session. If Pallante is used in that capacity Wednesday, manager Oliver Marmol said the right-hander would then be available to start Sunday in Boston on three days' rest. In the event Pallante is needed to cover more innings than anticipated Wednesday, Miles Mikolas could start Sunday, with Pallante then making his next start Monday or Tuesday in Milwaukee in that scenario.... Cardinals' Andre Pallante: Earns win Friday
Pallante (2-0) pitched 5.1 shutout innings, allowing four hits and two walks with four strikeouts to earn the win Friday over the Reds. After going 64 pitches last week, Pallante stretched out to 78 pitches (52 strikes) in a strong start Friday. Three of the six baserunners he allowed were in the first inning, but he was able to settle down after the shaky opening frame. Through 34.2 innings, Pallante has pitched to a 1.04 ERA, 1.41 WHIP and 24:16 K:BB in 19 appearances (two starts). With Jack Flaherty (shoulder) and Steven Matz (shoulder) unlikely to return next week, it seems likely Pallante gets at least one more turn in the rotation -- he lines up for a home start versus the Pirates next week.... Cardinals' Andre Pallante: Starting in nightcap
Pallante will start the second game of Saturday's doubleheader against the Cubs, John Denton of MLB.com reports. Pallante has been effective as a multi-inning reliever for the Cardinals this year, posting a 1.07 ERA and 1.38 WHIP in 25.1 innings over 17 relief appearances. The 23-year-old last pitched when he tossed 3.1 innings against the Padres on Monday to earn his first career win, so he'll be pitching on full rest during his first major-league start.... Cardinals' Andre Pallante: Posts two scoreless innings
Pallante allowed three hits and struck out two over two scoreless innings during Thursday's 7-6 extra-inning loss to the Mets. Since giving up a run versus Arizona on May 1, Pallante has strung together six scoreless innings in his last six appearances. The reliever has added three holds in that span as he begun to earn some trust with manager Oliver Marmol. Pallante's biggest issue so far has been walks -- he's permitted six walks during his scoreless streak. He's yet to really be punished for the free passes with a 1.02 ERA, 1.47 WHIP and 11:8 K:BB across 17.2 innings this season.... See More ... See Less -
Cardinals' Andre Pallante: Covers three innings
Pallante allowed three hits and struck out one over three scoreless innings in Tuesday's 3-0 loss to the Mets. Starter Jordan Hicks was struck in the wrist by a comebacker and had to leave the game with two on and no outs in the third inning. Pallante allowed an inherited runner to score on a Starling Marte single, but he was otherwise effective in a multi-inning assignment. Through 9.1 innings this season, Pallante has a 0.96 ERA, 1.07 WHIP and 6:2 K:BB. Initial tests on Hicks' wrist were encouraging, so it doesn't seem like the Cardinals will need a spot starter for his turn in the rotation this weekend. That's a role Pallante could fill later in the season if necessary, but he'll likely see most of his work out of the bullpen.... See More ... See Less
