Rangers' DJ Peters: Lands minor-league deal with Texas
Peters agreed to a minor-league contract with the Rangers on Wednesday, Evan Grant of The Dallas Morning News reports.
The 28-year-old was a well-regarded outfield prospect while he made his ascent through the Dodgers organization after entering the professional ranks in 2016, but he managed a lowly .197/.242/.422 slash line over 240 plate appearances during his lone season in the majors in 2021, which he split between the Dodgers and Rangers. He eventually moved on to the Korea Baseball Organization in 2022, only to return to affiliated ball in 2023 while making the conversion to pitching. He had a rough go in rookie ball last season with the Tigers' Florida Complex League affiliate, turning in a 6.23 ERA and 24:27 K:BB over 21.2 innings. Though Peters' initial results as a pitcher at the lowest rung of the minors weren't encouraging, the Rangers will bring him back for a second stint in the organization and see if they can unlock some of his potential on the mound.

Tigers' DJ Peters: Lands minors deal with Detroit
Peters agreed to a minor-league contract with the Tigers on Wednesday, Evan Woodbery of MLive.com reports.
Peters played 85 games with the Lotte Giants of the Korea Baseball Organization in 2022, struggling to a .228/.299/.402 slash line before being released in July. He finished the season in the Nationals' system, posting a .455 OPS in 51 plate appearances over 13 games with Triple-A Rochester. Once an intriguing prospect, the 27-year-old will provide Detroit with some outfield depth in the minors and is likely to open 2023 with Triple-A Toledo.

Nationals' DJ Peters: Signs minors deal with Nationals
Peters signed a minor-league contract with the Nationals on Friday.
Peters signed with the Lotte Giants of the KBO in December but didn't have much success, getting released back in July. While he was able to trim his strikeout rate to a respectable 21.8 percent, well below the 34.2 percent he managed in his 70-game MLB debut last season, he hit an unremarkable .228/.299/.402 in 85 games. He'll report to Triple-A Rochester for now.

DJ Peters: To play in KBO

As Kim outlines, playing in the KBO is a good option for players like Peters who just lost their spot on 40-man rosters, given the uncertainty of what lies ahead in the coming months. Peters is one of the more talented hitters to head to the KBO in recent years, and his massive raw power should allow him to put up gaudy numbers overseas before potentially returning stateside.

Peters cleared waivers and was outrighted to Triple-A Round Rock on Tuesday.
Peters showed some pop for Texas with 12 homers in 52 games, but it wasn't enough for him to maintain his spot on the 40-man roster through the offseason. Kole Calhoun inked a deal with the Rangers over the weekend, which figures to make it more difficult for Peters to have a chance of making the Opening Day roster.

Peters' lone hit of the night was a big one, as he took Zack Greinke deep to center field for a three-run shot to extend the Rangers' lead to 8-0. The 25-year-old is hitting just .224/.224/.490 over 12 games in September but does have four home runs and 11 RBI over that span. Since being added to the big-league roster Aug. 2, Peters is slashing .204/.226/.456 with 11 homers, 29 RBI, 19 runs scored, a steal and 3:53 BB:K over 38 games. He's showcased some nice power at the plate, but strikeouts continue to remain a problem for the rookie outfielder.

Peters doubled in the first inning, driving in Adolis Garcia. In addition, he cranked a solo home run in the fifth off Zack Greinke.
