Romero was a non-roster invitee to spring training, but he hasn't made an appearance since March 9. The 34-year-old southpaw hasn't pitched in the big leagues since the 2018 campaign, during which he posted a 12.60 ERA, 2.90 WHIP and 10 strikeouts across 10 innings with three different teams. Romero is competing for a spot in the bullpen, though he appears to be a long shot to make the Giants' Opening Day roster.

The Giants signed Romero to a minor-league contract Jan. 11.

Romero has been invited to the Dodgers' big-league camp, Juan Toribio of MLB.com reports.
Romero signed a minor-league deal with the Dodgers this offseason after pitching internationally for the past two campaigns. Prior to going abroad, he had limited success as a reliever in five seasons at the big-league level, racking up a 5.12 ERA with 156 strikeouts across 146 innings. While the Dodgers have a fairly full bullpen depth chart, Romero will hope to latch on as a depth option and make the team out of spring training.

Romero signed a one-year, $440,000 contract to play for the Chunichi Dragons, the Japan Times reports.

Romero just finished up a rehab assignment with Triple-A Indianapolis and will remain with the affiliate unless claimed off waivers or traded over the coming days. Romero (shoulder) moved his rehab assignment to Triple-A Indianapolis on Tuesday.
Romero has already made three rehab appearances, with the last two coming for Double-A Altoona. The move to Indianapolis will presumably represent his last stop on the minor-league assignment, but it's unclear if he'll be added back to the active roster once he's reinstated from the DL. Romero (shoulder) gave up one run on three hits and retired two hitters in his rehab outing Tuesday for High-A Bradenton.
The appearance marked Romero's first competitive action in about six weeks after he was shut down with left shoulder inflammation. Though he labored through Tuesday's outing, he at least threw 20 of his 26 pitches for strikes. He'll likely require another tune-up appearance or two in the minors before the Pirates consider activating him from the 10-day disabled list.

Romero was claimed off waivers by the Pirates on Saturday, Bill Brink of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.
Romero was designated for assignment by the Nationals last Saturday. In parts of five seasons in the majors, the 27-year-old has a 4.70 ERA, though his 4.09 FIP indicates that he's perhaps deserved better numbers. In his 138 career innings, he's struck out a solid 23.9 percent of batters, though his 11.1 percent walk rate is a bit too high for him to carve out a high-leverage role.
