  • Dodgers' Andy Burns: Dropped from 40-man roster

Burns was outrighted off the Dodgers' 40-man roster Friday, Eric Stephen of SBNation.com reports. Burns got into a pair of NLCS games as a replacement for Justin Turner (hamstring), but he wasn't particularly high on the depth chart, appearing in just nine regular-season major-league games. He'll return to his role as organizational depth for now.

  • Dodgers' Andy Burns: Back with Dodgers

Burns signed a minor-league contract with the Dodgers on Friday. He was released by the Dodgers in July but is back with the team and was initially assigned to the Arizona Complex League, although he will likely find a spot at Triple-A in the near future.

  • Andy Burns: Cut loose by Dodgers

The Dodgers released Burns on Tuesday. Los Angeles placed Burns on outright waivers the same day the team designated him for assignment. Unsurprisingly, none of MLB's other 29 organizations were willing to dedicate a 40-man roster spot to Burns, a 30-year-old journeyman whose nine games with the Dodgers earlier this season marked his first big-league action since 2016. Burns' defensive versatility and strong production over his 165 plate appearances at Triple-A Oklahoma City this season (.841 OPS, 10-for-11 success rate on stolen-base attempts) should at least allow him to catch on elsewhere on a minor-league deal.

  • Dodgers' Andy Burns: DFA'd by Dodgers

Burns was designated for assignment by the Dodgers on Tuesday, Juan Toribio of MLB.com reports. Burnes has been at Triple-A Oklahoma City since June 23 and has now lost his spot on the 40-man roster. The 30-year-old should remain at Triple-A if he goes through waivers unclaimed.

Burns was optioned to Triple-A Oklahoma City on Wednesday, Jorge Castillo of the Los Angeles Times reports. Burns had his contract selected by the Dodgers on June 12 and appeared in nine games, going 3-for-11 with a double, three walks and two runs in 15 plate appearances. Cody Bellinger (hamstring) was activated from the 10-day injured list in a corresponding move.

  • Dodgers' Andy Burns: Collects first big-league hit

Burns went 1-for-3 with a walk in Saturday's loss to Texas. Burns reached on an infield single in the second inning for his first career major-league hit. The 30-year-old, whose only previous big-league experience was a 10-game stint with Toronto in 2016, also reached base via walk in the fourth frame. After the game got out of hand late, Burns was called upon to take the mound for the first time in his career. He gave up two runs on three hits while striking out one across one inning.

Burns' contract was selected by the Dodgers on Saturday. Burns' only big-league experience came back in 2016, when he went hitless in seven trips to the plate for the Blue Jays. The 30-year-old started this season well for Triple-A Oklahoma City, hitting .330/.427/.598 with five homers and seven steals in 30 games. He'll likely fill a bench role during his time with the team. Mitch White was optioned in a corresponding move.

  • Dodgers' Andy Burns: Sent to minors

The 30-year-old hasn't played in the majors since 2016, when he went 0-for-6 with Toronto.

  • Dodgers' Andy Burns: Attending Dodgers camp

Burns joined the Dodgers as a non-roster invitee Tuesday, Eric Stephen of SBNation.com reports. Burns is very much a long shot to break camp with the Dodgers. He hasn't appeared at the big-league level since 2016 and failed to record a single hit in his 10-game debut for Toronto that season.

  • Blue Jays' Andy Burns: Added to 60-man roster

Burns will be a part of the Blue Jays' 60-man roster. The 29-year-old spent last year in the Blue Jays' minor-league system after playing in the Korea Baseball Organization during the 2017 and 2018 seasons. He returned to Toronto as a non-roster invitee in December and went 8-for-24 with five runs and four RBI before play was suspended. Burns will get a chance to further his development in his comeback bid as part of the 60-man roster, but it'd be a bit surprising to see him play a big role with the major-league club in 2020.

  • Blue Jays' Andy Burns: Staying with Blue Jays

Burns signed a minor-league contract with the Blue Jays on Monday that includes an invitation to spring training. • Blue Jays' Andy Burns: Rejoins Toronto

Burns signed a minor-league contract with the Blue Jays, Matt Eddy of Baseball America reports. The 28-year-old Burns made his MLB debut with the Blue Jays in 2016, logging seven plate appearances. He hasn't surfaced in affiliated ball since that time, instead spending the past two seasons in the Korea Baseball Organization. Assuming he sticks in the Toronto organization at the conclusion of the spring, Burns will likely report to Triple-A Buffalo and fill a depth role in the infield.

  • Andy Burns: Pursuing opportunity in Korea

Burns was released by the Blue Jays on Thursday so that he can sign with Lotte in the Korean Baseball Organization, Matt Eddy of Baseball America reports. The 26-year-old utility infielder managed to appear in 10 games at the major league level in 2016, but he failed to get a hit in that time. He also struggled during his second stint with Triple-A Buffalo, so Burns decided it would benefit him to get some more consistent playing time in the hitter-friendly KBO. He'll likely look to return to the states prior to the 2018 season if all goes well overseas.

  • Blue Jays' Andy Burns: Recalled from Triple-A

Burns was recalled from Triple-A Buffalo on Tuesday. Burns will add a little infield depth over the final six days of the season with Devon Travis ailing, but don't look for him to see many at-bats. He hit .230/.285/.352 with eight home runs and 13 steals in 111 games at Triple-A this year.

  • Blue Jays' Andy Burns: Drops off in second season at Triple-A Buffalo

Burns finished the 2016 International League season hitting .230./285/.352 with eight homers, 38 RBI and 42 runs scored in 418 at-bats. Burns was recalled by the Jays a handful of times during the season, but never got an opportunity (only six at-bats) to show he's worthy of hanging around the big leagues. The infielder's recent season with Triple-A Buffalo saw a sharp decline in production in comparison to the .293/.351/.372 line he posted in 2015 at the same level. With a boatload of young infield talent within the organization, Burns will have to perform much better than he did in 2016 if he wants to make it to the next level.

  • Blue Jays' Andy Burns: Sent down Friday

Burns was optioned to Triple-A Buffalo on Friday. Burns was sent down to Buffalo on Friday after going 0-for-2 during his two at-bats with the team since being recalled earlier this month. • Blue Jays' Andy Burns: Gets called up three times during first half

Burns has played in eight games, going 0-for-6, during his three short stints with the Jays during the first half of the season. Toronto drafted Burns in 2011 out of high school in the 11th round. He holds a minor league lifetime-average of .268 with 52 home runs. With a plethora of injuries to the Jays' infield this year, the team has called on the third baseman multiple times to serve as an emergency backup. However, second baseman Ryan Goins (forearm) and first baseman Chris Colabello (suspension) are due back soon, meaning Burns will be on his way back to Triple-A Buffalo in the near future.

  • Blue Jays' Andy Burns: Gets recalled Friday

Burns was recalled on Friday, Ben Nicholson-Smith of Sportsnet reports. Burns will now make his third major league appearance this season as the Blue Jays optioned Drew Hutchison in a corresponding roster move. It could be a temporary move, however, as the Blue Jays may recall Hutchison following the All-Star Break to fill in for the injured Marco Estrada. Burns, who's slashed .238/.332/.420 with Triple-A Buffalo this season, looks to provide infield depth for Toronto for the time being.
