Diamondbacks' Randal Grichuk: Carries offense with two homers
Grichuk went 3-for-4 with a double, two home runs and three RBI in Friday's 6-5 loss to the Angels.
The veteran outfielder kept Arizona in the game, launching a two-run shot to left field off Tyler Anderson in the second inning before tying things up at 5-5 in the eighth by crushing a Reid Detmers slider over the center-field wall for a solo blast. It was Grichuk's first multi-homer performance since last September, and he's finding his groove heading into the All-Star break -- four of his seven long balls on the season have come in his last 10 games.

Diamondbacks' Randal Grichuk: Another start against righty
Grichuk was added to Tuesday's starting lineup as the designated hitter after Alek Thomas (knee) was scratched. Grichuk went 0-for-4 in a 1-0 loss to San Diego.
Grichuk, who typically starts against lefties only, made a second start against a right-hander (Nick Pivetta) since Pavin Smith (oblique) landed on the 10-day injured list. The lefty-batting Jake McCarthy was in the original starting lineup as the DH but moved to center field to cover for Thomas. Grichuk could see additional opportunities while Smith and Thomas are unavailable.

Diamondbacks' Randal Grichuk: Plays against righty
Grichuk started at designated hitter and went 1-for-3 with a double in Sunday's 4-0 loss to Kansas City.
Grichuk typically starts against left-handers but was used against a righty (Michael Lorenzen) in the series finale between the two teams. Arizona's usual DH against righties, Pavin Smith, was placed on the 10-day injured list with an oblique injury. Grichuk could get additional opportunities while Smith is unavailable, but manager Torey Lovullo likes to exploit lefty-righty matchups whenever possible. That means one of the three lefty-hitting outfielders could see time at DH against righties.

Diamondbacks' Randal Grichuk: Enters mid-game, homers
Grichuk went 1-for-2 with a two-run home run in Saturday's 7-1 win over Kansas City.
Grichuk entered mid-game, pinch hitting for Pavin Smith when a lefty reliever entered the game, and he served as the designated hitter for the remainder of the game. His two-run shot in the eighth inning looked like a standup inside-the-park homer, but a replay confirmed the ball barely cleared the fence and hit a chair in the picnic area in right-center. It was Grichuk's fifth home run in 59 games.

Diamondbacks' Randal Grichuk: Smacks fourth homer
Grichuk went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and a double in Tuesday's 8-2 win over the Giants.
Grichuk didn't homer at all in June, going just 9-for-50 (.180) over 17 games. The outfielder ended that power drought with a solo shot to pad the Diamondbacks' lead in the sixth inning of this contest. For the year, he's batting .246 with a .721 OPS, four homers, 16 RBI, 21 runs scored, 11 doubles and one triple across 146 plate appearances. Grichuk has been pressed into some extra playing time recently while Arizona's primary designated hitter, Pavin Smith, has had to cover for Josh Naylor (undisclosed) at first base. Once Naylor is healthy again, Grichuk will likely return to a short-side platoon role, as Jake McCarthy has stepped up in right field in the absence of Corbin Carroll (wrist).

Diamondbacks' Randal Grichuk: Stepping out of lineup
Grichuk is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the White Sox.
Grichuk will get a breather for the day game after he had started in each of the last seven games -- five in right field, two at designated hitter -- while going 6-for-25 with two extra-base knocks, one walk, four RBI and five runs. With Corbin Carroll (wrist) on the injured list, Grichuk and the left-handed-hitting Jake McCarthy could end up settling into a platoon in right field, though McCarthy (.246 OPS in 51 plate appearances in the majors this season) may need to raise his performance before he emerges as the preferred option against right-handed pitching.

Diamondbacks' Randal Grichuk: Makes fifth straight start
Grichuk started in right field and went 2-for-3 with a double and two RBI in Sunday's 4-2 loss to Colorado.
Grichuk knocked in a run with a sacrifice fly in the second inning and singled in a run two innings later. He's started five consecutive games, which includes three against left-handers and two against righties. Grichuk routinely starts against southpaws, but his presence against right-handers is due to Corbin Carroll's hand injury. Carroll has missed four games due to the injury, and now the Diamondbacks will have him undergo an MRI. Arizona is scheduled to face White Sox right-hander Shane Smith on Monday.

Diamondbacks' Randal Grichuk: Fills in against righty
Grichuk started in right field and went 0-for-2 with a walk and an RBI in Thursday's 9-5 win over the Blue Jays.
Grichuk got a rare start against a right-hander while filling in for the injured Corbin Carroll (hand). Regardless of Carroll's status for Friday's game against Colorado, Grichuk will likely start against Rockies left-hander Austin Gomber. Grichuk's having a rough June, going 2-for-20 with three walks and one RBI over nine games.

Diamondbacks' Randal Grichuk: Strong effort in Saturday's loss
Grichuk went 3-for-4 with a two-run home run in Saturday's 11-7 loss to the Nationals.
Grichuk was in the lineup versus a right-handed pitcher for just the second time this season, getting the start in left field. His homer also came off a righty, as he took reliever Jackson Rutledge deep in the sixth inning. Grichuk is up to three homers this season, two of which have come over his last five games. He's batting .275 with 11 RBI, 13 runs scored, nine doubles and no stolen bases over 86 plate appearances on the year, while mainly working in a short-side platoon between the corner outfield and designated hitter.

Diamondbacks' Randal Grichuk: Homers in loss
Grichuk went 2-for-4 with a home run and two RBI in Saturday's 6-5 loss to the Cardinals.
Grichuk tied the game in the fifth inning with his second homer of the season, and both have come in his last seven games. He typically plays against left-handers only and is a better fit for fantasy leagues with daily transactions. Grichuk mashed southpaws last season but got off to a middling start in 2025 before making a bigger impact lately, going 7-for-17 (.412) with a 1.235 OPS over his last seven contests.

Diamondbacks' Randal Grichuk: Belts first homer
Grichuk entered Friday's game as a pinch hitter and hit a solo home run in a 14-11 loss to the Dodgers.
Grichuk hit the second of back-to-back solo home runs in the eighth inning. His shot increased Arizona's lead to 11-8 lead before the bullpen melted down in the ninth. The homer was the first of the season for Grichuk, who thus far in 2025 has been unable to repeat his impactful 2024 season. His OPS (.678) is nearly 200 points lower than where it finished last season.

Diamondbacks' Randal Grichuk: Picking up start Wednesday
Grichuk will serve as Arizona's designated hitter and No. 3 batter in Wednesday's game against the Mets.
Grichuk has essentially served as a pure short-side platoon player for Arizona this season, logging 35 of his 42 plate appearances against left-handed pitching. He'll replace Pavin Smith as the Diamondbacks' DH on Wednesday with southpaw Brandon Waddell in line to work in bulk relief for the Mets once right-handed opener Huascar Brazoban exits the contest.

Diamondbacks' Randal Grichuk: Serves as DH in opener
Grichuk started at designated hitter and went 1-for-2 in Thursday's 10-6 loss to the Cubs.
Arizona is expected to use a platoon at the DH spot, with Grichuk facing lefties and Pavin Smith handling righties. That played out Thursday, as Grichuk was eventually pinch hit for by Smith in the sixth inning when right-hander Nate Pearson entered the game. Chicago will send right-hander Jameson Taillon to the mound Friday, so expect Grichuk to be on the bench.

Diamondbacks' Randal Grichuk: Back in action Thursday
Grichuk (ankle) will start in left field and bat third in Thursday's Cactus League game versus the Athletics.
Grichuk was unavailable for a couple days while battling some left ankle soreness, but he's ready to roll now. The veteran outfielder is slated to start against lefties for the Diamondbacks this season.

Diamondbacks' Randal Grichuk: Dealing with ankle soreness
Grichuk is dealing with left ankle soreness following Monday's 11-5 loss to the Angels, Alex Weiner of ArizonaSports.com reports.
Grichuk went 1-for-2 with an RBI and a run scored in the contest, but apparently left the game a little worse for wear. Manager Torey Lovullo said that the outfielder's injury is "nothing alarming" and Grichuk isn't expected to miss any time. Grichuk can be considered day-to-day for the time being, but his status for Opening Day doesn't appear to be in question.

Diamondbacks' Randal Grichuk: Delivers two hits in return
Grichuk started in left field and went 2-for-3 with a solo home run in Monday's spring game against the Cubs.
Grichuk returned to action after being scratched Saturday due to back tightness. He made an immediate impact, homering in his first at-bat. The right-handed batter had a strong season in a part-time role for the Diamondbacks in 2024, when he recorded a .914 OPS against lefties.

Diamondbacks' Randal Grichuk: Returning to spring lineup
Grichuk will be included in the lineup in Monday's Cactus League game against the Cubs after missing a couple of days with lower-back tightness, Jack Sommers of SI.com reports.
Grichuk was initially scratched from Arizona's spring lineup Saturday due to what the team referred to as glute discomfort, but the injury was apparently back-related. Assuming he emerges from spring training fully healthy, Grichuk looks poised to fill a short-side platoon role for Arizona at designated hitter or in the corner outfield.

Diamondbacks' Randal Grichuk: Scratched Saturday
Grichuk was scratched from the lineup for Saturday's Cactus League game against the Rockies due to glute soreness, Alex Weiner of ArizonaSports.com reports.
The team isn't too concerned about Grichuk's injury, so there's a good chance he gets back to game action within a few days. In the meantime, A.J. Vukovich will pick up a start in left field Saturday.
