  • Flyers' Carter Hart: Gets hook against Avs

Hart allowed five goals on 15 shots before being replaced by Samuel Ersson to begin the third period of Saturday's 7-4 loss to the Avalanche. The ugly numbers owed a lot more to a lackluster defensive effort on the part of the Flyers than anything Hart did, but it's still the third time in his last eight starts he's coughed up at least five goals. The 25-year-old has a 3.56 GAA and .883 save percentage over that stretch, while Ersson sports a 1.63 GAA and .936 save percentage in seven appearances since Christmas. It may not be long before Hart loses his grip on even a timeshare in the Philly crease.

  • Flyers' Carter Hart: Gets back in win column

Hart stopped 22 shots in Saturday's 3-2 win over the Flames. Both Calgary goals came in the second period, as Hart shut down the visitors in the other two frames. It's his first win since Dec. 9, although an illness cost the netminder five games during that time. Since returning to the Philly crease, Hart has looked shaky with a 3.40 GAA and .888 save percentage over five outings. Saturday's performance was a step in the right direction, but expect him to remain in a timeshare with Samuel Ersson until he shows more consistency.

Hart stopped 31 shots in regulation and overtime as well as one of three shootout attempts in Friday's 7-6 loss to the Red Wings. While Detroit scored five times on 13 shots in the first period, Hart was able to regain his focus and give the Flyers a chance to not only mount a comeback but take the lead with about five minutes left in the third. However, Dylan Larkin scored from a bad angle when the netminder left a gap at the post to send the game into OT. Hart was beaten by Lucas Raymond and Patrick Kane in the shootout to take the loss. The Philadelphia netminder had been in and out of the lineup due to an illness, so he may not have been completely recovered. He still hasn't taken a regulation loss in nearly a month, going 3-0-2 over his last five starts with a 2.73 GAA and .917 save percentage.

Hart (illness) is expected to start on the road against Detroit on Friday. He has a 9-6-1 record, 2.42 GAA and .919 save percentage in 17 contests this year. The Red Wings rank fifth offensively this year with 3.50 goals per game, but Detroit has averaged just 2.29 goals per contest over its last seven contests, so this might not be as difficult a match for Hart as it appears at first glance.
