  • Senators' Joonas Korpisalo: Wins third straight

Korpisalo turned aside 34 of 36 shots in Wednesday's 6-2 win over the Sabres. Korpisalo was sharp again Wednesday, holding Buffalo to a pair of second-period goals en route to his third consecutive win. The 29-year-old netminder's won five of his last six starts, sporting a .909 save percentage in that span. It's been a nice stretch in an otherwise disappointing season for Korpisalo -- he improved to 18-21-4 on the campaign with an .890 save percentage and 3.30 GAA. Anton Forsberg will likely get the start Thursday in the second half of a back-to-back, which would put Korpisalo on track to get the nod for a road matchup in Winnipeg on Saturday.

  • Senators' Joonas Korpisalo: Starting Sunday

Korpisalo will get the starting nod at home against Edmonton, Bruce Garrioch of the Ottawa Sun reports. Anton Forsberg was originally slated to start but Korpisalo will go back-to-back after stopping 18 of 20 shots in Saturday's win over the Devils. • Senators' Joonas Korpisalo: Third win in last four starts

Korpisalo made 18 saves in a 5-2 win over the Devils on Saturday. He did wobble early in the second frame. Jesper Bratt beat him on a breakaway 23 seconds into the period, and then Tomas Nosek scored 36 seconds later with a snap shot from the left faceoff circle. But that was it. Korpisalo has won three of his last four starts. And while he allowed six goals in a loss to the Bruins, Korpisalo has permitted just six tallies in wins over the Penguins, Islanders and Devils. Platoon-mate Anton Forsberg is 1-4-0 in his last five starts, with 21 goals allowed. Korpisalo may be seizing the starter's reins again.

He has a 15-21-4 record, 3.37 GAA and .887 save percentage in 44 outings in 2023-24. The Devils, who rank 11th offensively with 3.27 goals per game, figure to be a difficult adversary for Korpisalo.

Korpisalo made 20 saves in Tuesday's 6-2 loss to Boston. David Pastrnak beat Korpisalo twice in the first period en route to a hat trick, and the Senators never recovered. Korpisalo has just two wins in his last 10 outings, going 2-5-2 with a 3.38 GAA and an .879 save percentage since Feb. 15, but Anton Forsberg hasn't been any better over that stretch. The two could remain in a timeshare until one of them begins to turn things around.

  • Senators' Joonas Korpisalo: Gets overtime win

Korpisalo kicked out 34 of 35 shots in a 2-1 overtime win over the Penguins on Tuesday. It was a goaltending duel all game between Korpisalo and Tristan Jarry as they faced and turned aside a barrage of shots until the third period when the goose egg was broken by Jake Sanderson. The first shutout of the season looked destined for Korpisalo until the Penguins scored with only 23 seconds left with an extra attacker to put the game into overtime. Ultimately, Korpisalo got the last laugh as the Sens were able to put Pittsburgh away and get the win. It was a huge win for the 29-year old netminder, as it was his first since Feb. 10. Korpisalo looks to have taken over the No. 1 job as this was his third start in a row but fantasy managers may want to look elsewhere as the Senators had lost seven in a row prior to this game.

  • Senators' Joonas Korpisalo: Loses in low-scoring game

Korpisalo allowed two goals on 21 shots in a 2-1 loss to the Sharks on Saturday. Korpisalo has lost seven starts in a row and has only finished above a .900 save percentage twice over that span. Ottawa's weak play as of late, and Korpisalo's situation as a timeshare netminder, limits his upside as a fantasy starter.

Korpisalo (illness) will defend the road cage against Los Angeles on Thursday, TSN 1200 Ottawa reports. Still, the Finnish backstop has been struggling of late, posting an 0-3-1 record, 3.65 GAA and .861 save percentage in his last five contests. Anton Forsberg should continue to see the majority of the workload ahead of Korpisalo the rest of the way.

The Senators were expecting a lot more out of the Finnish netminder when they signed him in the offseason to a five-year contract. The Coyotes have not recorded a win in their last 14 games, so this is a highly-favorable matchup for Korpi.

  • Senators' Joonas Korpisalo: Faces 36 shots in loss

Korpisalo allowed four goals on 36 shots in Tuesday's 4-1 loss to the Predators. After surrendering a pair of goals early in the first period, Korpisalo would ultimately settle in and hold the Preds to just two more goals over the final two frames. However, Ottawa failed to provide enough support offensively, which resulted in Korpisalo taking a fourth straight loss. Overall, the 29-year-old netminder is 13-19-3 with a disappointing .887 save percentage and 3.41 GAA this season. Korpisalo should get another shot at a win later this week with Ottawa hosting the Coyotes on Friday and visiting the Flyers on Saturday.
