    MacKinnon scored a goal on four shots and blocked one shot in Tuesday's 2-1 loss to Montreal. MacKinnon put the Avalanche up 1-0 43 seconds into the first period, but that was the end of Colorado's offense. And, after the Canadiens scored twice later in the first period, it was the end of the Avalanche's nine-game win streak. The tally extended MacKinnon's point streak to 19 games -- his second streak of that length this season -- and his point streak at home to 35 games. The 28-year-old center is in uncharted territory with a career-high 123 points.

  • Avalanche's Nathan MacKinnon: Sets Avalanche record

    MacKinnon logged a goal, two assists, six shots on net and one hit in Sunday's 5-4 overtime win over Pittsburgh. Colorado's comeback from a 4-0 deficit began with the support cast and was finished by its stars. MacKinnon had a goal and an assist in the third period, helping to set up OT, then had a hand in Jonathan Drouin's winner 54 seconds into the extra period. The three-point night for MacKinnon upped his season total to 122 points, passing Joe Sakic (120) for points scored in a season by a member of the Avalanche. Next up is the franchise record of 139 set by Peter Stastny as a member of the Quebec Nordiques in the 1981-82 season.

MacKinnon contributed both of his points over a span of 1:13 in the third period.   • Avalanche's Nathan MacKinnon: Extends streak with assist

    MacKinnon had an assist, three shots on net, four blocks and one hit in Tuesday's 4-3 win over St. Louis. MacKinnon won a race to a loose puck, absorbed a hit along the boards, then made the zone entry that resulted in the first of Mikko Rantanen's three tallies. That's vintage MacKinnon. The assist extended his point streak to 16 games, which is his second longest this season. Earlier in the season MacKinnon had a 19-game scoring run and also a 14-gamer. He emerged as the leading candidate for the Hart Trophy two months ago and has reinforced that position since. MacKinnon has a career-high 117 points through 69 games.

MacKinnon has registered nine multi-point performances during his 12-game point streak, amassing eight goals and 26 points over that stretch. The surge has carried him to the top of the NHL scoring race with 111 points (40 goals, 71 assists) through 65 contests. He's also gotten onto the scoresheet in 32 straight home games to begin the season, tying him with Hall of Famer Guy Lafleur for the third-longest streak in league history. Wayne Gretzky set the record with 40 consecutive games in 1988-89 while playing for the Kings.
