Seahawks' Jalen Milroe: Seattle swoops in
The Seahawks selected Milroe in the third round of the 2025 NFL Draft, 92nd overall.
This is one of the most intriguing picks of Day 2, if not the entire draft thus far. Milroe is an extremely polarizing prospect. His proponents point to his undeniable tools; Milroe is well-built with a cannon arm and 4.4 speed. His detractors point to erratic accuracy and an inability to put touch on short and intermediate passes. Milroe started for two years at Alabama, completing 65 percent of his passes at 9.4 YPA with 39 touchdowns and 17 interceptions. He also ran for 1,257 yards and 32 touchdowns in those seasons. His 'wow' plays are up there with any quarterback in the class. There are moments in which he looks unstoppable, either with the deep ball or as a runner. There are also several concerning starts on his resume, such as the 2024 Oklahoma game, which explain why he was available at this stage. With Sam Darnold under a lucrative contract, the Seahawks can be patient with Milroe's development and see if they can turn him into a future starter.

Saints' Tyler Shough: New franchise QB in New Orleans?
The Saints selected Shough in the second round of the 2025 NFL Draft, 40th overall.
New Orleans has been linked to this quarterback class of late, especially with Derek Carr dealing with a shoulder issue. The Saints were able to play this out very well and land the No.3 quarterback off the board without having to sacrifice draft capital. Shough had a circuitous route to get to this moment. Once painted as the heir apparent to Justin Herbert at Oregon, Shough battled several injuries in Eugene and transferred to Texas Tech, where unfortunate injury luck followed. He made 13 starts over three seasons in Lubbock before transferring to his final stop, Louisville. Shough managed to stay healthy and showed what he can do, throwing for 3,195 yards and 23 touchdowns in 12 starts. Obviously, Shough is an older quarterback prospect who will turn 26 as a rookie. Injuries prevented him from showing his talent until his seventh year in college. He has a prototypical frame (6-foot-5, 219 pounds) with good arm strength and processing ability. His age suggests he doesn't have a ton of runway to develop on the bench, but in New Orleans, where there is an uncertain quarterback situation, there is a chance Shough takes over as soon as this year.

Will Levis QB | TEN
Titans' Will Levis: Trade coming soon?
Levis is a candidate to be traded after Tennessee drafted fellow quarterback Cam Ward at No. 1 overall Thursday night, KLTV's Terry McCormick reports.
The pick was expected for some time beforehand, and the Titans likely would've already moved Levis if they got an offer for something like a mid-round pick. The question now is whether they'll trade him for less than that, creating a fresh start for both parties after back-to-back disastrous seasons for the Tennessee offense since Levis was taken 33rd overall in the 2023 NFL Draft. Levis turns 26 in June and hasn't shown much on the field that hints at developing into a legitimate NFL starter, but he does have a strong arm, decent mobility and a prototypical build (6-foot-4, 229 pounds).

Jaxson Dart QB | NYG
Giants' Jaxson Dart: Nabbed by Giants at 25
The Giants selected Dart in the first round of the 2025 NFL Draft, 25th overall.
The Giants traded back into the first round from their 34th selection, working with Houston at the 25th spot to make Dart the team's second selection of the first round. Quarterback remained a need for the Giants following the third-overall selection of edge defender Abdul Carter, and in theory the acquisition of Dart addresses that concern. Dart (6-foot-2, 223 pounds) was a very successful starter at Mississippi and logged some quality off-the-bench starts for USC as a true freshman before that, and now the Giants will hope he can provide an upgrade over the veteran duo of Russell Wilson and Jameis Winston. Dart offers more rushing ability than most quarterbacks and showed the ability to make some good throws in college, but Dart probably needs to do a better job of executing a play design through its conclusion -- in college he probably dropped his eyes and looked to run a little too easily. If Dart can harness his mobility and accuracy in a more refined form of himself then he could prove to be worth this selection.

Cam Ward QB | TEN
Titans' Cam Ward: Picked first overall by Tennessee
The Titans selected Ward in the first round of the 2025 NFL Draft, first overall.
Ward (6-foot-2, 219 pounds) is far from a conventional first overall pick, because he was a non-entity as a recruit and truly had to work his way up through the minors by playing at Incarnate Word (2020-21) and Washington State (2022-23) before dominating in his one season at Miami in 2024. Ward only earned admiration at each stop, but his one year with the Hurricanes was arguably his finest work in his five collegiate seasons, as he completed 305 of 454 pass attempts for 4,313 yards (9.5 YPA) with 39 passing touchdowns to just seven interceptions. Ward might not be a prolific runner in the NFL, but at the very least he is functionally mobile from the pocket, where he shows an uncommon ability to evade pressure and uncork ambitious big-play shots downfield. Although the Titans are still rebuilding and don't offer the most comfortable team context for a rookie quarterback, they have made substantial investments in their offensive line the past two offseasons, and could suddenly be a well-composed offense if they could just secure one or two quality route runners to add to a wideout rotation that is otherwise headlined by Calvin Ridley, Tyler Lockett and Treylon Burks (ACL). Even if Will Levis remains on hand through training camp, Ward is a near lock to start Week 1 for the Titans.

Jake Fromm QB | DET
Jake Fromm: Let go by Detroit
The Lions cut Fromm on Wednesday.
Fromm spent the 2024 season on Detroit's practice squad then inked a reserve/future contract with the team in January, but he'll now need to search for a reserve opportunity elsewhere in the league. The 2020 fifth-round pick appeared in three regular-season games with the Giants back in 2021.

Derek Carr QB | NO
Saints' Derek Carr: New Orleans awaiting clarity
Saints general manager Mickey Loomis said Wednesday that Carr "does have an issue with his shoulder" and that the team is "hoping to get some resolution and clarity on that in the near future," Katherine Terrell of ESPN reports.
Loomis outwardly declined to answer any questions about Carr's injury or status with the team at Wednesday's press conference, additionally refusing to answer affirmatively or negatively when asked whether New Orleans' starting quarterback is currently on the roster, per John Sigler of USA Today. Carr reportedly is considering shoulder surgery that could impact his availability for 2025 due to a previously undisclosed injury, with speculation that the decision is related to dissatisfaction with the Saints and a desire to move on. Due to the veteran quarterback's contract being restructured in March, he is owed roughly $40 million guaranteed in salary and bonuses this season.

Kirk Cousins QB | ATL
Falcons' Kirk Cousins: Suitors may include Vikings?
The Browns, Steelers and Vikings may be interested in acquiring Cousins, whose contract includes a no-trade clause, Dianna Russini of The Athletic reports.
The contract also has a guaranteed $27.5 million salary for 2025, plus a guaranteed $10 million roster bonus in 2026. Cousins somewhat unexpectedly showed up for the start of Atlanta's voluntary OTAs this week, but he still seems to be hoping for a trade that would put him in a starting role -- preferably without competition from an early draft pick at the position. Pittsburgh would seem to be the cleanest fit, if Aaron Rodgers doesn't end up signing there and the Steelers don't use an early pick on a QB later this week. Falcons GM Terry Fontenot responded to some of the rumors and reports Wednesday, saying it's "not accurate" that the team has asked potential trade partners to take on at least $20 million of Cousins' salary, per Cameron Wolfe of NFL Network.

Kirk Cousins QB | ATL
Falcons' Kirk Cousins: Shows up for voluntary workouts
Cousins is present for the start of Atlanta's voluntary OTAs on Tuesday, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports.
Cousins' attendance at voluntary OTAs is something of a surprise, after he was benched in Week 16 last season in favor of Michael Penix. Atlanta could have released Cousins in mid-March to avoid having his $10 million guaranteed roster bonus kick in, but the team opted to keep the veteran quarterback in house as a backup option or trade asset. However, Cousins' contract includes a no trade-clause, which he seems unlikely to waive unless it's to find a starting role elsewhere.

Brock Purdy QB | SF
49ers' Brock Purdy: Participating in voluntary workouts
Purdy is present Tuesday for the start of San Francisco's voluntary offseason program, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
Purdy's rookie deal is currently set to expire after the 2025 campaign, but he and the 49ers remain engaged in talks surrounding a new extension. Both Michael Silver and Dianna Russini of The Athletic report that Purdy's attendance for the start of voluntary OTAs is a sign that contract discussions are moving in the right direction, but this remains a situation that could drag on until the later stage of the offseason. Purdy struggled in 2024 compared to his stellar 2023 season, though the context of Brandon Aiyuk (knee) and Christian McCaffrey (knee) both missing most of the year must be noted. The 25-year-old signal-caller will have do make do without Deebo Samuel, who has been traded to the Commanders, within his offensive playmaking group in 2025, but standout 36-year-old left tackle Trent Williams (ankle) has confirmed his intent to return for a 16th NFL season.
