  • Dolphins' Chase Claypool: Free agency looms

Claypool secured four of seven targets for 26 yards across nine appearances with the Dolphins during the 2023 regular season. He also secured four of 14 targets for 51 yards and one score across four games with the Bears. Claypool is coming off a disastrous 2023 campaign, having failed to put anything of note together with Miami after an early season trade out of Chicago. He did contribute on special teams for 102 snaps during the regular season with the Dolphins, and it's possible the team still has limited intrigue in his developmental upside, but at this stage in his career there are no guarantees Claypool draws any real interest on the free-agent market. His four-year rookie contract ends this offseason.

  • Dolphins' Chase Claypool: Can't finish on deep ball

Claypool failed to secure his only target during Sunday's 56-19 loss to the Ravens. Claypool was targeted in the end zone on a deep pass from Tua Tagovailoa (shoulder) late in the third quarter, but despite initially securing the ball, he wasn't able to complete a catch. Reports about Claypool's performance in practice have picked up recently, but even with Jaylen Waddle (ankle) sidelined Sunday, the four-year veteran hasn't yet managed to make a splash in a Dolphins uniform. Pending Waddle's status, Claypool could see some offensive involvement again during a crucial Week 18 divisional matchup against the Bills.

  • Dolphins' Chase Claypool: Ready for Sunday

Claypool (knee) has no injury designation ahead of Sunday's game against the Commanders, David Furones of the South Florida Sun Sentinel reports. Claypool logged a limited practice session both Wednesday and Thursday, but he was able to practice without limitations Friday, and it now seems as if he's moved past his knee issue. The 2020 second-round pick has been inactive for four of the Dolphins' seven games since getting traded to Miami, and he'll at least be available for Sunday's contest.

  • Dolphins' Chase Claypool: Still working through injury

Claypool (knee) was limited during practice Wednesday, Travis Wingfield of the Dolphins' official site reports. Claypool hasn't played since Week 9 with the injury and will likely head into the weekend questionable again. However, if he's able to ramp up his activity level Thursday or Friday, he could still suit up Sunday against the Commanders.

  • Dolphins' Chase Claypool: Inactive versus Jets

Claypool (knee) is inactive for Friday's game against the Jets. Claypool, who the Dolphins had listed as questionable for the contest, will sit out Friday after he managed nothing more than limited participation in practice this week. With just one catch for 15 yards on two targets in three games with Miami so far, the 2020 second-round draft pick is off the fantasy radar for now.

  • Dolphins' Chase Claypool: Questionable for Friday

Claypool (knee) is listed as questionable for Friday's game against the Jets, Travis Wingfield of the Dolphins' official site reports. Claypool has been listed as limited in practice ahead of the contest, and his Week 12 status is unclear at this stage. That said, with just one catch for 15 yards on two targets in three games with the Dolphins to date, Claypool is off the fantasy radar for now.

  • Dolphins' Chase Claypool: Remains limited

Claypool (knee) was listed as a limited participant on Thursday's practice estimate, Travis Wingfield of the Dolphins' official site reports. Claypool was unable to play in Week 11 and his status for Friday's game will remain in question for another day. Even if he is able to suit up against the Jets, the Notre Dame product would likely have a minimal role in the team's deep receiving corps.

  • Dolphins' Chase Claypool: Considered limited Tuesday

Claypool (knee) was listed as a limited participant on Miami's estimated injury report Tuesday, Travis Wingfield of the Dolphins' official site reports. Claypool was unable to play in the team's Week 11 win over the Raiders after he underwent knee surgery during the Week 10 bye week. The wide receiver was initially considered week-to-week following the procedure and he'll look to practice in some capacity ahead of Friday's matchup with the Jets.

  • Dolphins' Chase Claypool: Week-to-week after knee procedure

Claypool (knee) underwent a minor knee procedure during Miami's Week 10 bye and is considered week-to-week, per coach Mike McDaniel, Cameron Wolfe of NFL Network reports. Claypool will miss Sunday's game against the Raiders, and the wide receiver will likely need to practice in some capacity to have a chance of playing against the Jets in Week 12. He failed to practice coming out of the bye week.

  • Dolphins' Chase Claypool: Doesn't practice Wednesday

Claypool didn't practice Wednesday due to a knee injury. Over his first three games with the Dolphins, Claypool has logged just one catch for 15 yards on two targets, so until he gets a full and productive game in, he'll be off the fantasy radar. Claypool now has two more chances to return to practice ahead of Sunday's game against the Raiders.

  • Dolphins' Chase Claypool: Not targeted in loss

Claypool was not targeted during Sunday's 21-14 loss to the Chiefs. Claypool has secured one catch for three yards on two targets across three appearances with the Dolphins. He did, at least, reach a new high mark with 22 percent of offensive snaps played for Miami in Week 9. During the team's upcoming bye, Claypool will have an opportunity to get more familiar with the Dolphins' scheme. His next chance to increase his involvement will come Week 11 versus the Raiders.

  • Dolphins' Chase Claypool: Inactive Sunday

Claypool (coach's decision) is inactive for Sunday's game against the Panthers. With Claypool's game debut with the Dolphins on hold, Tyreek Hill, Jaylen Waddle, Cedrick Wilson, Braxton Berrios and Robbie Chosen are slated to handle the team's Week 6 WR duties. Claypool's next chance to suit up will arrive in Week 7 against the Eagles.

  • Dolphins' Chase Claypool: Dealt to Dolphins

The Bears have agreed Friday to trade Claypool to the Dolphins, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports. Claypool, who was a healthy scratch for Chicago's win over the Commanders on Thursday night, is being traded to Miami in exchange for a 2025 swap of late-round picks, per Dianna Russini of The Athletic. The veteran wideout had clearly fallen out of favor with the Bears' coaching staff, as he racked up just four receptions for 51 yards and a touchdown on 14 targets through the Bears' first three games despite playing more than 75 percent of the offensive snaps. Now, Claypool will need to compete with Braxton Berrios, Cedrick Wilson and Robbie Chosen for snaps behind Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle, making his path to fantasy relevance difficult to envision even if Miami's offense can utilize him more effectively.

  • Bears' Chase Claypool: Won't join team for Week 5

Bears head coach Matt Eberflus said Monday that Claypool won't be present at the team's facilities this week or available for Thursday's game against the Commanders, Jason Lieser of the Chicago Sun-Times reports. Eberflus' comments on Claypool's status came after the wideout was a healthy inactive for Sunday's 31-28 loss to the Broncos. As Colleen Kane of the Chicago Tribune notes, the coach said Sunday that Claypool -- who wasn't even in attendance at Soldier Field after being told to stay home for the Week 4 game -- was expected to be back in the building for Week 5 prep, but those plans apparently changed. The Bears and Claypool seem to be headed for a divorce, either through a trade or the wideout's release. The former Steeler tallied just four receptions for 51 yards and a touchdown on 14 targets through the Bears' first three games, despite playing more than 75 percent of the snaps on offense in each of those contests.

  • Bears' Chase Claypool: Weak performance

Claypool caught one pass for 15 yards in the Bears' 41-10 loss to the Chiefs on Sunday. Claypool was second on the team with four targets, but the Chicago offense was unable to move the ball until the Chiefs brought in their defensive backups late in the game. Although Claypool has seen increased snaps since Week 1, the anemic passing game may limit his potential to have consistent production.

  • Bears' Chase Claypool: Surprises with solid game

Claypool caught three passes for 31 yards and a touchdown in the Bears' 27-17 loss to the Buccaneers on Sunday. The Bears lost Darnell Mooney to a knee injury during the contest, and Claypool then functioned as the primary receiving complement to DJ Moore. Claypool led the team with eight targets, and he could get a chance to build on his encouraging effort if Mooney is forced to miss time.

  • Bears' Chase Claypool: Won't play in preseason opener

Claypool (hamstring) isn't suited up for Saturday's preseason opener against the Titans, Courtney Cronin of ESPN.com reports. Claypool tweaked his hamstring during practice Wednesday, and while it appears to be a minor issue, it's not surprising to see Chicago proceed with caution. The wideout's next chance to suit up for game action will come next Saturday against the Colts, but he'll likely have to practice at some point during the week to be cleared for that matchup.

  • Bears' Chase Claypool: Suffers hamstring injury

Claypool didn't finish Wednesday's practice due to a hamstring injury, Patrick Finley of the Chicago Sun-Times reports. Claypool remained on the field with teammates after injuring his hamstring, so there's some reason to believe the issue is minor. That said, the Bears could always tend toward caution and hold Claypool out of Saturday's preseason matchup against the Titans, even if there's no serious concern about his health.

  • Bears' Chase Claypool: Will practice Wednesday

General manager Ryan Poles confirmed Tuesday that Claypool (undisclosed) is "good to go" and will practice Wednesday, Zack Perason of 247Sports reports. Poles said Claypool's placement on the PUP list was because he "just needed an extra day or two" to get right," per Larry Mayer of the Bears' official site. Claypool, who joined the Bears midseason last year, should benefit from a full offseason to get up to speed with the playbook and build chemistry with Justin Fields. He figures to operate as the team's No. 3 wideout behind DJ Moore and Darnell Mooney.

  • Bears' Chase Claypool: Placed on active/PUP list

The Bears placed Claypool (undisclosed) on the active/PUP list Sunday, Field Yates of ESPN reports. Claypool was sidelined for spring practices due to a soft-tissue injury and didn't participate during June minicamp with an undisclosed injury. It's unclear when the Notre Dame product will be healthy, but he's eligible to practice and/or play at any point during the preseason. When available, Claypool will presumably compete for a key role in Chicago's wideout room behind DJ Moore and Darnell Mooney, the latter of whom is expected to be 100 percent for training camp after missing OTAs due to an ankle injury.
