  • Eagles' Albert Okwuegbunam: Returning to Philadelphia

Okwuegbunam (hamstring) signed a one-year deal with the Eagles on Thursday, Field Yates of ESPN reports. Okwuegbunam spent the 2023 season in Philadelphia, but he was regularly a healthy inactive. In total, he suited up for only five contests and was on the field for 55 offensive snaps and five special teams snaps. Owuegbunam could see a slight uptick in his role in 2024, but he is very unlikely to make a significant impact on the stat sheet.

  • Eagles' Albert Okwuegbunam: Moved to IR

The Eagles placed Okwuegbunam (hamstring) on injured reserve Saturday. Okwuegbunam hasn't played since Week 13, though before this week his absences were due to coach's decision. He sprung up on Philadelphia's injury report Friday due to a hamstring injury that will sideline him for the remainder of the regular season and into the playoffs. Okwuegbunam won't be eligible to return to action unless the Eagles advance to the NFC Championship Game.

Okwuegbunam (hamstring) has been downgraded to out ahead of Sunday's contest against the Cardinals. Okwuegbunam originally received a questionable designation due to a hamstring issue, but Philadelphia will ultimately err on the side of caution. The depth tight end's next opportunity to suit up will come in the regular-season finale versus the Giants.

  • Eagles' Albert Okwuegbunam: Gets questionable tag

Okwuegbunam (hamstring) is listed as questionable ahead of Sunday's game against the Cardinals. The 25-year-old tight end was a late addition to the Eagles' injury report, as he popped up as a limited participant in Friday's practice due to a hamstring issue. Even if Okwuegbunam is ready to play Sunday, there's still a chance he's inactive, as he's been a healthy scratch each of the last three weeks.

  • Eagles' Albert Okwuegbunam: Healthy scratch

Okwuegbunam (coach's decision) is inactive for Monday's matchup against the Giants. Okwuegbunam is a healthy scratch for a third straight week, a stretch that began with the return of Dallas Goedert from injured reserve. Jack Stoll and Grant Calcaterra will be the backups behind Goedert again.

  • Eagles' Albert Okwuegbunam: Not playing versus Seattle

Okwuegbunam (coach's decision) is listed as inactive for Philadelphia's game versus the Seahawks on Monday. Okwuegbunam will now be inactive for the second straight week since Dallas Goedert has returned from a forearm injury. Okwuegbunam has appeared in just four games this season and has yet to even be targeted.

  • Eagles' Albert Okwuegbunam: Won't suit up versus Dallas

Okwuegbunam (coach's decision) is inactive Sunday against the Cowboys. Okwuegbunam played in the last four games as the backup tight end but failed to catch a single pass over that span. Instead, Jack Stoll and Grant Calcaterra will handle the backup tight end duties behind Dallas Goedert.

  • Eagles' Albert Okwuegbunam: One target but no catches

Okwuegbunam failed to bring in his only target in Sunday's 42-19 loss to the 49ers. Okwuegbunam saw the field for 31 offensive snaps, outpacing the 24 snaps he'd played through the first 12 weeks and those of fellow tight ends Jack Stoll (24) and Grant Calcaterra (13). The larger workload didn't lead to any production for Okwuegbunam, however, and with Dallas Goedert potentially ready to return from a forearm injury next week against the Cowboys, Okwuegbunam's fantasy appeal will shrink still further.

  • Eagles' Albert Okwuegbunam: Sitting Thursday

Okwuegbunam (coach's decision) is inactive Sunday against the Patriots. Okwuegbunam was traded to Philadelphia from the Broncos in late August and he'll now sit for the second straight contest to open the 2023 campaign. It's possible that with one more week of practice under his belt, the tight end makes his Eagles debut in Week 3 versus the Buccaneers on Monday Night Football.

  • Eagles' Albert Okwuegbunam: Dealt to Philly

The Broncos traded Okwuegbunam to the Eagles on Tuesday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports. After reporters Tuesday morning said the tight end would be waived, the Broncos ultimately were able to deal him for a late-round 2025 pick swap instead. Okwuegbunam could share TE snaps with Jack Stoll if starter Dallas Goedert misses any time for the Eagles this year.

  • Albert Okwuegbunam: Being waived by Broncos

The Broncos are in line to waive Okwuegbunam, Mike Klis of 9News Denver reports. Okwuegbunam caught seven of eight targets for 109 yards and a TD in Saturday's preseason finale against the Rams, but the Broncos are moving on from the 2020 fourth-rounder ahead of Week 1. With Okwuegbunam no longer in the mix, the team's tight end corps is currently led by Adam Trautman, Greg Dulcich and Chris Manhertz.

  • Broncos' Albert Okwuegbunam: Stands out at critical time

Okwuegbunam brought in seven of eight targets for 109 yards and a touchdown in the Broncos' 41-0 preseason win over the Rams on Saturday. Facing the prospect of playing his last game in a Broncos uniform, Okwuegbunam was able to make a convincing case for retaining a roster spot with team-high reception, receiving yardage and target totals. Okwuegbunam got the start and immediately made an impact, making 17- and eight-yard grabs on the opening drive and consistently connecting with Jarrett Stidham throughout the first half, including on an eight-yard touchdown reception late in the first quarter. Whether Okwuegbunam did enough to lock down a reserve tight end role will soon be evident, given final cuts must be made by Tuesday.

  • Broncos' Albert Okwuegbunam: On roster bubble

Okwuegbunam's future with the Broncos could come down to how he performs in Saturday's preseason finale against the Rams, as special-teams coach Ben Kotwica hinted he is on the roster bubble, Zac Stevens of TheDNVR.com reports. The Broncos are seemingly set at tight end with Adam Trautman and Greg Dulcich, so Okwuegbunam's route to the the 53-man roster appears to be via special teams. He has apparently logged some good practices over the past week, so his final test may be in Saturday's exhibition game.

  • Broncos' Albert Okwuegbunam: Finishes disappointing third season

Okwuegbunam caught 10 of 18 targets for 95 yards and one touchdown while playing eight games in the 2022 season. Okwuegbunam entered the 2022 campaign with high expectations following the departure of Noah Fant and arrival of quarterback Russell Wilson in the offseason. However, the veteran tight end was a complete afterthought in the Broncos' struggling passing attack throughout the season, as he appeared in only eight games. Okwuegbunam eventually ceded No. 1 tight end duties to rookie Greg Dulcich (hamstring), who became a reliable option for Wilson during stretches of the season. Looking ahead to next year, Dulcich figures to lead Denver's tight end corps, but the 24-year-old Okwuegbunam may have a chance to prove himself. A new coaching staff should offer him a fresh start with the chance to earn more playing time in 2023. Okwuegbunam is entering the final year of his rookie deal and is set to become a free agent in 2024.

  • Broncos' Albert Okwuegbunam: Finds end zone in loss

Okwuegbunam caught three of six targets for 45 yards and one touchdown in Sunday's 27-24 loss to the Chiefs. Okwuegbunam stepped into a 53 percent offensive snap share in the contest with rookie Greg Dulcich (hamstring) on injured reserve. Sunday marked only the seventh game the veteran has appeared in this season, and his snap percentage was his highest since Week 2. Additionally, Okwuegbunam's touchdown was his first trip to the end zone of the 2022 campaign. After entering the season as a candidate to take a major step forward, the season has been one to forget for the 24-year-old. Okwuegbunam should enter a Week 18 matchup with the Chargers looking to end the year on a high note as Denver's de facto No. 1 tight end.

  • Broncos' Albert Okwuegbunam: Healthy scratch against Rams

Okwuegbunam (coach's decision) is inactive for Sunday's game against the Rams, Aric DiLalla of the Broncos' official site reports. Okwuegbunam hasn't seen much playing time in recent weeks, and he'll be a healthy scratch for Sunday's Christmas Day matchup. As long as the Broncos' other tight ends remain healthy, Okwuegbunam is unlikely to see much of a role late in the regular season.

  • Broncos' Albert Okwuegbunam: No injury designation

Okwuegbunam (illness) doesn't have an injury designation for Sunday's matchup against Kansas City. Okwuegbunam landed on the injury report Thursday as a limited participant, but he upgraded to full participation Friday and is ready to go for the Week 14 divisional matchup. The tight end has been a healthy scratch since Week 5, but he could return to the field in Week 14 with reserve tight end Andrew Beck (hamstring) sidelined. The Broncos could certainly benefit from the addition of Okwuegbunam's size (6-foot-5, 258 pounds) and pass-catching skills on offense, as Denver won't have any wide receivers taller than 6-foot-2 on the field Sunday with 6-foot-4 wideout and No. 1 target Courtland Sutton (hamstring) also ruled out.

  • Broncos' Albert Okwuegbunam: Limited will illness

Okwuegbunam (illness) was a limited paticipant in practice Thursday, Ellie Kinney of the Broncos' official site reports. Okwuegbunam's limited participation is an encouraging sign that he'll be able to overcome this ailment before Denver's final injury report Friday. The third-year tight end caught seven of 11 targets for 50 yards over the first five weeks of the season, but he's been a healthy scratch since the emergence of rookie Greg Dulcich in Week 6. However, coach Nathaniel Hackett said Thursday that Okwuegbunam could be active again for Sunday's game against the Chiefs, as he could help supplement the team's depleted receiving corps with wideout Courtland Sutton considered doubtful to play with a hamstring injury.

  • Broncos' Albert Okwuegbunam: Could suit up Sunday

Okwuegbunam may be active Sunday against the Chiefs for the first time since Week 5, according to head coach Nathanial Hackett, Zac Stevens of the DNVR.com reports. Okwuegbunam has been a healthy scratch since the Week 6 debut of Greg Dulcich. The former's inability to succeed in a blocking role has left him stuck behind Eric Tomlinson and Eric Saubert on the team's positional depth chart, while Dulcich handles more of a receiving role for the team at tight end. However, with Courtland Sutton (hamstring) considered doubtful for Sunday's game with the Chiefs, Okwuegbunam could find himself active and taking on a wide receiver role in the contest, as the Broncos would be lacking size at the position if Sutton were to sit.
