Lewis (quadriceps) underwent an MRI and is awaiting results after exiting Thursday's game against the Royals, Betsy Helfand of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports. Lewis was forced to exit the game after injuring himself running the bases in the third inning. He described the issue as feeling like a cramp, though nothing official has been announced. Lewis' status will become clearer once the results of the MRI are known.... See More ... See Less

Twins' Royce Lewis: Leaves game with quad injury
Lewis was removed from Thursday's game against the Royals in the third inning due to a right quadriceps injury, Dan Hayes of The Athletic reports. Lewis came up gimpy while rounding second base on a Carlos Correa double and walked off the field gingerly with the trainer. He had homered and singled in his first two plate appearances before exiting. Lewis should be considered day-to-day until the severity of the injury is known.... See More ... See Less -
Twins' Royce Lewis: Hits another grand slam
Lewis went 1-for-4 with a grand slam in Friday's Grapefruit League win over Boston. Lewis is 7-for-12 with the bases loaded in his career in the regular season and was the fastest player in MLB history to hit five grand slams, needing only 66 career games. While his spring training grand slam won't add to those totals, it shows Lewis is just about in regular-season form. After missing time each of the last three seasons due to knee injuries, Lewis is fully healthy entering 2024 and could be poised for superstardom.... See More ... See Less -
Twins' Royce Lewis: Back at third base for Game 3
Lewis (hamstring) will start at third base and bat cleanup Tuesday in Game 3 of the ALDS against the Astros. Lewis had been limited to DH duties through the Twins' first four postseason games after straining his left hamstring Sept. 19, but he feels healthy enough to man the hot corner as the best-of-five ALDS shifts from Houston to Minnesota. Edouard Julien will fill the DH role and bat leadoff Tuesday at Target Field as Jorge Polanco covers second base and hits second.... See More ... See Less -
Twins' Royce Lewis: Likely to remain at DH
Lewis (hamstring) is likely to remain at designated hitter for the ALDS against the Astros, Bobby Nightengale of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports. Lewis and the Twins are hoping he'll be available to play third base at some point, but his left hamstring still isn't 100 percent. For now, the club will just be happy to have his bat in the lineup. Lewis homered twice and also drew two walks during the Twins' AL Wild Card Series versus the Blue Jays.... See More ... See Less -
Twins' Royce Lewis: Smacks two home runs in win
Lewis went 2-for-3 with two home runs and a walk in Tuesday's 3-1 win over the Blue Jays in Game 1 of the AL Wild Card Series. Lewis provided all the offense in this contest, as he had Kevin Gausman's number from the start and made sure to take advantage in both the first and third innings. The rookie third baseman had been on a power binge of sorts heading into the postseason, with five home runs in his 15 games to close out the regular season. During that span, he slashed .315/.422/.630 with 12 runs and 19 RBI.... See More ... See Less -
Twins' Royce Lewis: Should be ready for Tuesday
Lewis (hamstring) is expected to be listed on Minnesota's roster for its upcoming AL Wild Card Series against Toronto, Dan Hayes of The Athletic reports. Lewis sounded unsure about his availability when speaking with media earlier in the day, but Hayes notes that he demonstrated his health during Monday's workout. Hayes also acknowledged that it's likely Lewis will be limited to the DH role, but it would still be a big boost for the Twins to get his bat back in the starting nine. Expect the official roster to be revealed Tuesday morning.... See More ... See Less -
Twins' Royce Lewis: Uncertain for wild-card round
Lewis (hamstring) acknowledged that he's uncertain if he'll be available to play Tuesday in Game 1 of the Twins' wild-card round series with the Blue Jays, Do-Hyoung Park of MLB.com reports. Lewis made his final appearance of the regular season Sept. 19 before landing on the 10-day injured list with a left hamstring strain. He was able to take part in simulated games last week, but he said Monday that he still isn't yet running at 100 percent. Even though speed is a big component of Lewis' game, the 24-year-old has been one of the Twins' more productive batters when healthy, so he could still be activated for the wild-card round to serve as a designated hitter. The Twins will likely re-evaluate Lewis early Tuesday before deciding on his status for the upcoming three-game series.... See More ... See Less -
Twins' Royce Lewis: Plays simulated game
Lewis (hamstring) played in a simulated game Wednesday at Target Field, Do-Hyoung Park of MLB.com reports. He even hit a homer, per Park. Lewis has made a swift recovery from the mild left hamstring strain he suffered last Tuesday and could be activated from the injured list when first eligible this Sunday, the final day of the regular season. The 24-year-old is a key potential run producer for the Twins as they head into the playoffs.... See More ... See Less -
Twins' Royce Lewis: Taking swings
Lewis (hamstring) was swinging a bat Tuesday, Do-Hyoung Park of MLB.com reports. The 24-year-old has been sidelined by a strained hamstring since Sept. 20, so his relatively quick return to swinging a bat is an encouraging sign. Lewis will be eligible to be reinstated from the injured list on the final day of the regular season Sunday, though it remains to be seen if he's expected to be healthy by that point.... See More ... Twins' Royce Lewis: Placed on injured list
The Twins placed Lewis on the 10-day injured list Friday with a left hamstring strain, Brandon Warne of Access Twins reports. Lewis had to be taken out of Tuesday's game after tweaking his hamstring, and an MRI revealed a strain that will keep him out until at least the final day of the season, though there's no guarantee he'll be ready to play by then. Jordan Luplow will return to Minnesota to replace Lewis on the active roster.... See More ... See Less -
Twins' Royce Lewis: Getting MRI this weekend
Lewis (hamstring) will have an MRI when the Twins return home for this weekend's series against the Angels, Dan Hayes of The Athletic reports. As Hayes says, this situation is still very much to be determined, as a hamstring strain could mean the end of Lewis' regular-season play. The Twins are off Thursday, and Kyle Farmer figures to be an everyday player in the short term, especially with Carlos Correa (plantar fasciitis) landing on the injured list Wednesday.... Twins' Royce Lewis: Dealing with hamstring tightness
Lewis was removed from Tuesday's game against the Reds due to left hamstring tightness, Betsy Helfand of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports. Lewis initially stayed in the game after tweaking his hamstring in the sixth inning, but he had to leave after further injuring himself during the eighth frame. Luckily, he's officially listed as day-to-day, so it appears Lewis avoided a significant injury. He could potentially miss a few games to recover before returning to Minnesota's lineup.... Twins' Royce Lewis: Exits with injury
Lewis was removed from Tuesday's game against the Reds after suffering an apparent injury, Dan Hayes of The Athletic reports. Lewis appeared to tweak something in his leg during the sixth inning, but he was taken out of the game after grimacing following a swing in the eighth. The Twins will take a look at him and should provide more information following Tuesday's game, but fantasy managers should view Lewis as day-to-day for now.... See More ... See Less -
Twins' Royce Lewis: Knocks another homer
Lewis went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Monday's loss against the Reds. Lewis took Connor Phillips deep for a monstrous 424-foot solo homer in the fourth inning. The former No. 1 pick continues his scorching September, during which he has hit .313 with six homers, 23 RBI and 15 runs over 64 at-bats. Lewis is slashing .308/.364/.551 on the season.... Twins' Royce Lewis: Makes history with another slam
Lewis went 1-for-2 with three walks, a grand slam, a second run scored and a stolen base in Friday's 10-2 win over the White Sox. Chicago's pitching staff wanted nothing to do with Lewis after he drove a Jesse Scholtens fastball over the fence in left field in the second inning with the bases loaded, giving Minnesota a lead it wouldn't relinquish. The 24-year-old third baseman also set a few different records with the blast. Per Joe Pollizze of MLB.com, his four grand slams in 2023 established a new franchise record for the Twins, while Sarah Langs of MLB.com notes that Lewis is the first player in MLB history with five slams among his first 16 career homers. His four grand slams in the last 18 games is also a new record, shattering the prior mark for the shortest such stretch -- 39 games by Don Mattingly in 1987. Lewis is putting together a massive September, slashing .288/.393/.615 through 14 games with five homers, 13 runs and 21 RBI as the Twins close in on an AL Central title.... See More ... See Less -
Twins' Royce Lewis: Belts 13th long ball
Lewis went 1-for-4 with a solo home run, an additional RBI and a walk in a 10-2 win against the White Sox on Thursday. Lewis gave the Twins a 2-0 lead with a fourth-inning solo shot and added another RBI with a bases-loaded walk in the ninth. The rookie has just two hits in 15 at-bats over his past four games, but both have left the park, and he's racked up five RBI during that span. Lewis is slashing an impressive .300/.355/.530 with 13 homers, 46 RBI, 32 runs and five thefts over 217 plate appearances on the campaign.... See More ... See Less -
Twins' Royce Lewis: Drives in six runs
Lewis went 3-for-4 with a home run, six RBI and two runs scored in Monday's win over Cleveland. Lewis blew things open with a grand slam in the second inning followed by a two-run single in the sixth. He's gone deep seven times in the last 12 games with three of those being grand slams. During that stretch, he's gone 16-for-50 (.320) with a whopping 22 RBI. On the season, Lewis now owns a stellar .317/.363/.545 slash line with 16 extra-base hits through 44 games.... See More ... Twins' Royce Lewis: Possible waiver wire pickups
With Bo Bichette (quadriceps) and Matt McLain (oblique) recently going on the IL, you may be looking for a shortstop right now, and you're lucky that one as good as Lewis is available in one-third of CBS Sports leagues still. Seriously, what more does this guy have to do to win the hearts and minds of Fantasy Baseballers? He's a former No. 1 overall pick who has hit .305 with an .874 OPS so far in his major-league career (which mostly consists of this year, but still). He's on a home run binge now, having gone deep in five of his past eight games. His peak exit velocities are in the top 10 percent of the league. The walks are a little lacking for points leagues, but again, if a hole just opened up for you at shortstop, good luck doing better than him.... See More ... See Less -
Twins' Royce Lewis: Slugs grand slam
Lewis went 1-for-6 with a grand slam in Sunday's 7-6 extra-innings win over the Rangers. Lewis put the Twins on the comeback trail with his sixth-inning slam to cut the deficit to 5-4. He's gone 7-for-25 (.280) with three homers and seven RBI over his last six games. The infielder is at a .312/.358/.500 slash line with seven homers, 24 RBI, 18 runs scored and two stolen bases over 37 contests this season. He's been a regular since returning from an oblique injury Aug. 15, primarily seeing time at third base and designated hitter.... See More ... See Less
