McMahon went 0-for-3 with an RBI on Monday against the Padres. McMahon recorded four hits April 12, but he has only five hits across 38 plate appearances since. He's also struck out at 39.5 percent clip in that span while tallying two RBI and two runs scored. Even with that stretch, McMahon has a .314 average across 100 plate appearances on the campaign.... Rockies' Ryan McMahon: Four hits in lopsided win
McMahon went 4-for-6 with three doubles, two RBI and two runs scored in Friday's 12-4 win over Toronto. It's already McMahon's sixth multi-hit game this season. The 29-year-old third baseman has gotten off to a red-hot start, batting .415 with a 1.107 OPS, two homers and 11 RBI through in his first 53 at-bats. While he may not have a great supporting cast in Colorado, McMahon's provided consistent production throughout his career, hitting 20-plus homers in four of his prior five seasons.... See More ... Rockies' Ryan McMahon: Goes deep again
McMahon went 1-for-3 with a solo home run and a walk Saturday against the Rays. McMahon homered in his first plate appearance of the game, his second long ball of the season. While both of his long balls have come at Coors Field, McMahon has at least one hit in eight of nine contests to begin the campaign.... See More ... See Less -
Rockies' Ryan McMahon: Walks it off Friday
McMahon went 3-for-5 with a double, a grand slam and a second run scored in Friday's 10-7 win over the Rays. The 29-year-old committed an error in a five-run top of the ninth inning that put Tampa Bay ahead 7-6, but McMahon atoned for it with a walkoff slam on a Jason Adam sweeper that caught too much of the plate. It was McMahon's first homer of 2024, but he's off to a blistering start, batting .414 (12-for-29) with three runs and six RBI through eight games -- numbers that are even more impressive considering that Friday was the Rockies' home opener.... Rockies' Ryan McMahon: Moves up to No. 3 spot
McMahon will start at third base and bat third in Wednesday's contest against the Cubs, Luke Zahlmann of The Denver Gazette reports. McMahon has been batting fifth, but he's off to an 8-for-20 start and Nolan Jones (2-for-24) is slumping, so the two are flipping lineup spots. Kris Bryant will hit cleanup in between McMahon and Jones.... See More ... See Less -
Rockies' Ryan McMahon: Will hit fifth in order
McMahon is expected to hit fifth in the Rockies' lineup during the regular season, Thomas Harding of MLB.com reports. The Rockies prefer to alternate left and right-handed hitters in the lineup, with Charlie Blackmon, Kris Bryant, Nolan Jones and Brendan Rodgers set to hit in the top four. McMahon will be pushed down in the order slightly as a result, as he primarily hit third in 2023. He's had consistent production across the last three seasons, recording at least 20 home runs in each with a wOBA of at least .325.... See More ... See Less -
Rockies' Ryan McMahon: Out of lineup
McMahon will be on the bench for Saturday's game against Minnesota, Luke Zahlmann of The Denver Gazette reports. McMahon took a slight step back at the plate this season, with his strikeout rate spiking to 31.5 percent while his wRC+ dipped to 89. With the boost from Coors Field, however, that still adds up to a respectable .241/.324/.434 slash line with 23 homers. He'll hit the bench for the fourth time in seven games, with Alan Trejo starting at third base.... See More ... See Less -
Rockies' Ryan McMahon: Gets breather Thursday
McMahon is not in the lineup Thursday versus the Dodgers. McMahon will grab some rest leading into the final weekend of the Rockies' season. Alan Trejo is starting at third base and batting seventh Thursday against Los Angeles.... See More ... See Less -
Rockies' Ryan McMahon: On bench for later game
McMahon is out of the lineup for the second game of Tuesday's doubleheader versus the Dodgers. McMahon went 0-for-4 with two strikeouts in the opening game of the twin bill at Coors Field. Harold Castro will cover third base and bat seventh in the nightcap.... See More ... See Less -
Rockies' Ryan McMahon: Sitting against lefty
McMahon isn't in the Rockies' lineup Sunday against the Cubs, Patrick Lyons of TheDNVR.com reports. With lefty Jordan Wicks starting on the mound for Chicago, the lefty-hitting McMahon will take a seat to begin Sunday's game. Alan Trejo will cover third base and bat seventh in McMahon's absence.... Rockies' Ryan McMahon: Takes seat versus lefty
McMahon is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Padres. Alan Trejo will start at third base and bat eighth as the Rockies take on ace left-hander Blake Snell. Rockies' Ryan McMahon: On bench Sunday
McMahon is not in the lineup Sunday versus the Giants. McMahon, who did not play in the second game of a doubleheader Saturday, will not start for the second consecutive game. The third baseman has played in 143 of the Rockies' 148 games, but he will sit out consecutive contests for the first time this season. Alan Trejo will start in the 28-year-old's place.... Rockies' Ryan McMahon: Sitting for second game
McMahon is not in the lineup for the second game of Saturday's doubleheader against the Giants. McMahon was in the lineup and hit cleanup for the first game, but he wore the platinum sombrero and struck out in all five of his plate ppearances. Alan Trejo will take over at third base while hitting eighth in the second contest.... See More ... See Less -
Rockies' Ryan McMahon: Homers, tallies three hits
McMahon went 3-for-4 with a solo home run in Wednesday's victory over the Cubs. McMahon singled in two of his first three at-bats before launching a solo homer off Drew Smyly in the bottom of the seventh, which extended the Rockies' lead to four runs. It marked the third baseman's fifth game this season with at least three hits while the home run was his first since Aug. 28. He's still batting just .214 in September following Wednesday's three-hit performance to go along with three RBI and five runs scored.... See More ... See Less -
Rockies' Ryan McMahon: Sitting against lefty
McMahon is out of the lineup Friday at San Francisco. Alan Trejo will start at third base and bat eighth as the Rockies take on left-hander Kyle Harrison. McMahon went hitless during a three-game series in Arizona to begin the week and is slashing .184/.253/.290 versus lefties this year.... See More ... See Less -
Rockies' Ryan McMahon: Goes deep in loss
McMahon went 2-for-2 with a solo home run, an additional RBI and a walk in Monday's loss to Atlanta. Despite the final score of 14-4, Colorado kept pace with Atlanta for much of the contest thanks largely to McMahon's bat. He kicked off the scoring with a mammoth 473-foot blast in the first inning and tied the score 4-4 with a sacrifice fly in the fifth. McMahon has reached base safely in 10 of his past 11 contests, slashing .310/.388/.548 with three homers, seven RBI and 12 runs over that span.... See More ... See Less -
Rockies' Ryan McMahon: Smacks 20th homer
McMahon went 3-for-5 with a solo home run and two RBI on Wednesday against the Diamondbacks. McMahon has seen his strikeouts pile up of late, as he has a 34.5 percent punchout rate across his last 13 starts. He's hit only .167 in that span, though he did manage his 20th homer of the season Wednesday -- matching his power output from the 2022 campaign. While the rest of his stat line has remained fairly consistent, McMahon does have the chance to cross the 25-homer threshold for the first time in his career.... See More ... See Less -
Rockies' Ryan McMahon: Not starting Sunday
McMahon is not in the starting lineup Sunday against the Dodgers. McMahon is having a rough time at the plate in August. In his last eight games, the 28-year-old is 2-for-28. The last game he did not play in was July 16. With Sunday being a rest day, it can serve as a reset for him. In McMahon's place, Alan Trejo will start at third base and hit sixth.... See More ... McMahon went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Saturday's 6-2 loss to the Cardinals. McMahon extended his hitting streak to seven games with the blast, which was his third homer in that span.
