Freeman went 2-for-3 with a two-run homer and an additional RBI in Thursday's 7-1 win over St. Louis. Freeman got the scoring started Thursday with an RBI single in the first inning before cranking a two-run homer off Miles Mikolas in the third. The 34-year-old Freeman is coming off a stellar 2023 campaign where he slashed .331/.410/.567 with 29 home runs and 102 RBI. He has a chance to be even more productive this year, batting in the third spot behind Mookie Betts and Shohei Ohtani in a star-studded Dodgers lineup.... See More ... See Less

Dodgers' Freddie Freeman: Set to be No. 3 hitter
Freeman batted third in the order for both Seoul Series games against the Padres as well as throughout the Cactus League slate, contradicting a comment by manager Dave Roberts early in camp that the first baseman would remain the Dodgers' No. 2 hitter despite the offseason signing of Shohei Ohtani. Freeman batted second in each of the 161 games he played in last season, but it appears he'll move down a slot with Ohtani now in the fold. The veteran first baseman should get plenty of run-producing opportunities with Mookie Betts and Ohtani hitting ahead of him, and he'll also remain protected with the solid bat of catcher Will Smith behind him for most games. Freeman slashed .282/.333/.667 along with four homers and a team-leading 16 RBI over 42 plate appearances in spring action and went 1-for-6 with four walks in the Seoul Series versus San Diego.... Dodgers' Freddie Freeman: Stays in two hole after Ohtani signing
Dodgers manager Dave Roberts confirmed at the team's Fan Fest event Feb. 3 that Freeman will remain the team's No. 2 hitter in 2023 even after the offseason signing of Shohei Ohtani (elbow), Alden Gonzalez of ESPN.com reports. Ohtani batted out of the two hole in 71 of his 135 starts with the Angels in 2023, but Roberts said that the reigning American League MVP will slot in as the No. 3 hitter to begin his tenure with the Dodgers. Meanwhile, the Dodgers will maintain continuity atop the order with Mookie Betts in the leadoff spot and with Freeman as the No. 2 hitter, after the latter made all 161 of his starts out of that lineup spot in 2023 en route to producing a .977 OPS and scoring a career-high 131 runs. Assuming Ohtani doesn't experience any major delays in his recovery from last September's internal brace procedure and is ready to serve as a full-time designated hitter early in the season, Freeman could have a chance to improve upon his already immense counting stats from 2023. Catcher Will Smith was a solid performer as the Dodgers' primary No. 3 hitter a season ago, but Ohtani's OPS in 2023 was still 269 points greater than Smith's.... See More ... See Less -

Dodgers' Freddie Freeman: Goes deep again Wednesday
Freeman went 1-for-3 with a three-run home run and a stolen base in Wednesday's 8-2 win over the Rockies. Freeman put the game out of reach for the Dodgers in the eighth inning with a 412-foot, three-run shot to right field. It was his second homer in as many days following a 23-game stretch during which he went deep just once. Freeman's three RBI in the win pushed his total to 101 on the campaign, marking his second straight triple-digit RBI season and the fourth of his big-league career. He's also tallied a career-high 23 thefts while belting 28 long balls, scoring 128 runs and posting a standout .333/.412/.368 slash line over 713 plate appearances.... See More ... See Less -
Dodgers' Freddie Freeman: Belts 27th homer
Freeman went 3-for-8 with a two-run home run, an additional run, a double and two walks across both games of Tuesday's doubleheader split with the Rockies. Freeman did most of his work in the nightcap, when he padded an already substantial Dodgers lead with a two-run homer in the sixth inning. The superstar first baseman added a double in that contest, his league-leading 58th two-bagger of the campaign. He needs two more doubles to become the first MLB player since 1936 to collect 60 in a campaign. Freeman has complemented the two-bagger bonanza with 27 homers, 98 RBI, 127 runs, 22 stolen bases and a .333/.410/.564 slash line.... See More ... See Less -

Dodgers' Freddie Freeman: At 20-steal mark for first time
Freeman went 1-for-3 with a walk, a stolen base and two runs scored in Monday's 8-3 win over the Tigers. Freeman's steal was his 20th of the season, the first time he's reached that milestone in his career. The 34-year-old first baseman clearly isn't letting up for his effort level even with the Dodgers securing the NL West title. He's been strong in September, hitting .304 (17-for-56) this month, down from his .335 mark for the year. He's added a .983 OPS, 26 home runs, 93 RBI and 124 runs scored through 148 contests. Freeman sat out Sunday for the first time all season, though he may get some additional rest over the remaining two weeks before the playoffs.... See More ... See Less -
Dodgers' Freddie Freeman: Receives first day off
Freeman is out of the lineup for Sunday's game at Seattle. The Dodgers clinched the NL West title Saturday, so Freeman will receive his first day off of the season. The veteran first baseman has taken a small step back at the plate through 14 games in September with a .302/.403/.434 slash line, though his .983 OPS for the campaign still has him in the thick of the race for NL MVP.... Dodgers' Freddie Freeman: Registers 19th steal
Freeman went 0-for-3 with a stolen base and a run Friday in a 6-3 victory versus Seattle. Freeman reached on a hit-by-pitch in the eighth inning, swiped second base and reached third on an error. He then scored an important insurance run on a J.D. Martinez single. Freeman has gone 19-for-20 in stolen-base attempts this season, tacking significant value onto his typically outstanding slash line (.336/.414/.573) and power numbers (26 homers, 55 doubles, 93 RBI). The running aspect of his game has blossomed in his first two seasons with the Dodgers -- he's nabbed 32 thefts so far in that span after topping out at 10 steals across 12 years with Atlanta.... Dodgers' Freddie Freeman: Paces offense with four hits
Freeman went 4-for-5 with a home run, a double, two RBI and four runs scored in Tuesday's 11-2 win over the Padres. Freeman extended his hitting streak to six games with this impressive effort. He hit a two-run homer in the third inning that was all the Dodgers needed to win, and he scored each time he got on base. The first baseman has accumulated six four-hit efforts this season. For the year, he's up to a .339/.416/.579 slash line with 26 homers, 93 RBI, 121 runs scored, 18 stolen bases and 55 doubles through 144 games.... See More ... See Less -
Dodgers' Freddie Freeman: Sets franchise record Friday
Freeman went 3-for-4 with a walk, a double and two runs scored in Friday's 8-5 win over the Nationals. His fifth-inning two-bagger off Mason Thompson set a new Dodgers record, as it gave Freeman his 53rd double of the year -- breaking a mark that had stood since 1929 when the team played in Brooklyn and was known as the Robins. Freeman continues to push for a second MVP trophy, and since the beginning of August he's slashing .360/.430/.576 with 18 doubles, four homers, four steals, 18 RBI and 25 runs in 36 games.... Freeman went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run, a double and an additional run scored in Wednesday's 7-0 win over the Diamondbacks. Freeman's blast was his 25th of the season, making this the third time in six seasons he's reached that mark. Even by his lofty standards, the first baseman has had a good August, batting .375 with four homers, 16 doubles, 16 RBI, 22 runs scored and four stolen bases over 28 games. The impressive month has lifted his season slash line to .338/.413/.586 through 132 contests.... See More ... See Less -
Dodgers' Freddie Freeman: Goes yard in win
Freeman went 1-for-5 with a solo home run in Monday's 7-4 win over the Diamondbacks. Freeman has been dialed in over the last nine games, going 16-for-39 (.410), but his first-inning blast Monday was his first homer since Aug. 6. The first baseman was not totally void of power in that 19-game stretch, racking up 10 doubles. He's slashing a magnificent .340/.415/.583 with 24 long balls, 87 RBI, 109 runs scored, 17 stolen bases, 50 doubles and two triples through 130 contests as he's putting forth another MVP-caliber season.... Dodgers' Freddie Freeman: Tallies four more hits Friday
Freeman went 4-for-5 with a double, three runs and an RBI in a 7-4 win against the Red Sox on Friday. Among Freeman's four base knocks was a seventh-inning RBI double that gave Los Angeles its first lead of the game. The two-bagger was his league-leading 48th of the campaign, moving him one behind Shawn Green for the Los Angeles Dodgers record and four behind Johnny Frederick for the overall franchise mark. Freeman has been blistering at the plate of late, going 9-for-14 with three doubles, five runs and two RBI over his past three games.... See More ... See Less -
Dodgers' Freddie Freeman: Racks up five hits during twin bill
Freeman went 5-for-9 with two doubles, two runs and an RBI over both contests in Thursday's doubleheader sweep of the Guardians. Freeman recorded three hits in the matinee, which was technically a continuation of Wednesday's suspended game. He added two more base knocks in the nightcap before being replaced in the field in the seventh frame with Los Angeles holding a comfortable lead. Freeman is up to 47 doubles on the campaign, matching the career high he set last season and leading the majors by a wide margin. Following an uncharacteristic six-game rough patch during which the All-Star first baseman went 2-for-20, Freeman has bounced back with a five-game hitting streak during which he is slashing .381/.381/.524 with three doubles, two RBI and a stolen base.... Freeman went 2-for-5 with a double, one RBI and one run scored in Wednesday's 7-1 win over the Brewers. Freeman entered Wednesday 0-for-11 with a walk and two strikeouts over his last three games. It was just the third time all year and the first time since April that he was held hitless in three straight contests. The multi-hit effort got him back on track, and he's now slashing .337/.414/.583 with 23 home runs, a league-leading 44 doubles, 16 stolen bases, 83 RBI and 102 runs scored through 119 games....
