The Red Sox declined to tender Cordero (ankle) a contract for 2023, Chris Cotillo of The Springfield Republican reports.

Cordero is blessed with incredible tools, but he's been unable to solve his swing-and-miss problem. He struck out in one third of his plate appearances last year before ankle sprains put him on the shelf, and he has a 34.8 percent strikeout rate in parts of six big-league seasons. The Red Sox will look to spend in free agency on a more consistent lefty bat.
