Jesse Matthews: Cut by Houston
The Texans waived Matthews (knee) with a failed physical designation Friday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
The San Diego State product signed with the Texans after going undrafted in 2023, but he tore his ACL shortly thereafter and was forced to miss the entire year. Matthews appeared in 48 games across his four-year collegiate career, catching 174 passes for 2,109 yards and 15 touchdowns.

Matthews suffered a torn ACL before being placed on injured reserve Tuesday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
Specifics of Matthews' injury were unknown when he was placed on IR earlier Tuesday; however, the reason is clear now. It's a tough break for the undrafted free agent out of San Diego State, who was working to earn a depth role in the Texans' receiving corps. He'll now focus on his recovery so he can make another attempt at an NFL roster in 2024.

Texans' Jesse Matthews: Moved to IR
The Texans have placed Matthews on injured reserve due to an undisclosed injury, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
Matthews, an undrafted free agent, was reportedly having a strong camp prior to landing on IR. The San Diego State product's season may have come to a premature end unless both he and the Texans can eventually come to terms on an injury settlement once his health is back up to par.
