It's unclear when Coughlin picked up the shoulder issue, but his practicing Wednesday signals that it's likely not too serious. Regardless, he'll probably have to upgrade to a full practice Thursday or Friday to avoid carrying an injury designation into the weekend.

Giants' Carter Coughlin: Full go Thursday
Coughlin (hip) was estimated as a full participant in Thursday's practice, Dan Salomone of the Giants' official site reports.
The 26-year-old linebacker had suffered a hip injury during New York's Week 12 win over the Patriots, but it now seems as if he's had enough time to move past the issue. Coughlin has appeared in 12 games for the Giants this season, recording six total tackles and playing almost strictly on special teams (two of 286 total snaps on defense).

Coughlin (6-foot-3, 236 pounds) was a three-year starter at defensive end Minnesota, but his best positional fit as a pro is somewhat difficult to project. A natural pass rusher with explosiveness off the line, Coughlin lacks the prototype size or length to bookend the defensive line, but his middling coverage skills and lack of quickness will likely also prevent him from garnering a consistent role at outside linebacker. As such, the Giants may view him as a developmental project with situational upside.
