Week 8 of the college football season is nearing and Friday night will bring about Mountain West action on the CBS Sports Network. UNLV hosts Air Force in a conference crossover matchup with both teams looking for their first conference win. The Falcons are 12-point favorites over the Rebels and the total is 56 in the latest Air Force vs. UNLV odds.

Before you make any Air Force vs. UNLV picks, you'll want to hear what the advanced computer model from SportsLine has to say.

The advanced computer simulates every FBS game 10,000 times, and those who have followed it have seen massive returns. Over the past three years, this proprietary computer model has generated a jaw-dropping $4,210 profit for $100 bettors.

The model made some huge calls in Week 7, including nailing Iowa State's outright upset of No. 6 West Virginia. It also picked Virginia (+7) in the Cavaliers' upset of No. 16 Miami, and recommended LSU (+7) against the spread for its upset of No. 2 Georgia. Anyone who has followed it is way up.

Now, it has simulated every play for Air Force vs. UNLV. The results are in, and while we can tell you it's leaning over, it has also generated a strong against the spread pick that's hitting 65 percent of the time. You can only see that one at SportsLine.

The model knows Air Force followed up a blowout win over Navy two weeks ago with a narrow defeat last week against San Diego State. The Falcons have lost four games this year by a combined 23 points, so they've looked more competitive than their 2-4 record would indicate.

The Falcons live and die offensively with Troy Calhoun's rushing attack and it should come as no surprise that Air Force averages 4.5 yards per carry in their two wins and just 3.7 yards per carry in their four losses. That's good news against a UNLV defense that allows 5.2 yards per carry.

However, don't expect things to be easy for Air Force. They have defensive issues of their own, giving up nearly 325 yards per game through the air in losses with 10 passing touchdowns allowed against just two interceptions.

With starting quarterback Armani Rogers out, backup Max Gilliam actually makes the UNLV passing game more dangerous. After failing to surpass 130 yards passing on the season prior to him taking over as the starter, he threw for 250 yards and three touchdowns in a loss last week to Utah State

If UNLV can continue to expand its passing attack with Gilliam behind center, it can certainly give the Air Force pass defense problems and challenge the line.
