Before Wednesday night, Saturday’s Notre Dame-Louisville matchup featured two of the hottest teams in the ACC. But Wake Forest knocked off the Cardinals on the road in a major upset, and now No. 8 Louisville is a game back from the Irish in the ACC standings and looking to end its regular season schedule on a high note as it prepares for postseason play. That will be a tough challenge for Rick Pitino’s team facing Notre Dame, winner of six straight and surging to the finish line.

Here’s how you can watch the game on TV or streaming online, along with a matchup to watch and a pick against the spread.

Scouting report

Louisville’s resurgence this season has been largely in part because of the play of Donovan Mitchell. When point guard Quentin Snider missed a month earlier this season, Mitchell was forced to shoulder a larger load on offense. And since Snider’s return to the floor, he hasn’t slowed his dominance: Mitchell is averaging 22 points, 3 assists and 4.5 rebounds over his past four games. And when Louisville needs a charge, he has been the guy to get his team going.

Mike Brey’s Notre Dame team has a number of different weapons with the ability to make you pay on any given night. Four of the Irish’s five starters are averaging double figures in scoring, and behind junior point guard Matt Farrell, they have the ability to keep you guessing on who to guard. The strong play of senior V.J. Beachem in the post has been a huge catalyst for the most recent run of dominance.

Matchups to watch

Notre Dame has the semi-equivalent of a Golden State death lineup. Its most used lineup features the 6-foot-8 Beachem at the power forward and 6-5 Bonzie Colson at center. That small lineup allows the Irish the versatility to defend with athleticism and effectively play position-less offense. Louisville’s front court and length, however, might cause Brey some matchup issues -- the Irish don’t have anyone taller than 6-8 that they use.

Odds and pick

KenPom odds: Louisville -9

Pick: Notre Dame +9

Notre Dame has already proven it can beat Louisville, winning 77-70 in early January. Despite the perceived front-court disadvantage, I think the Irish have the goods to keep it within nine on the road. I think Louisville wins 76-71.
